VaShawn Depri Edwards, 22 of Selma, AL departed this life on Friday, August 26, 2005 at a local hospital. Service was held on Saturday, August 27, 05 at 11:00 a.m. Masjid Bilil Qasim El-Amin in Montgomery, AL with Imam Yusuf Hasan officiating.

Burial followed The Montgomery Muslim Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home Directing.

Survivors includes a devoted mother Khalilah Melissa Edwards Akram (Khalil Ali); two brother Maceo LeVar Edwards Sr. (Camellia Effinger) and Malik Muhammad both of Selma, AL; one nephew Maceo LeVar Edwards Jr.; one niece Cantaria Scemone Edwards both of Selma, AL; A very special and devoted grandmother Mary E. Moten Edwards (Thomas Edwards Jr.) of Selma, AL; two special aunts Norma J. Edwards Pearl (William Pearl) of Atlanta, GA and Carol Y. Edwards Parker (Benjamin Parker) of Selma, AL; two special uncles Gregory 0. Edwards (Jennifer Edwards) of Detroit, Michigan and Waymon E. Edwards (SaCora) of Pensacola, FL; one great uncle raised like an uncle Glenn Moten (Patricia Moten) of Selma, AL; two close cousin Tyecha Marshai Edwards Cobb (Milford Cobb) of Germany, and Cedric F. Edwards of Selma, AL; a very dear and special cousin LaDaytra Pearl of Atlanta, GA; numerous special great uncles and aunts; a very special and loving neighbor Ms. Fannie Reese and family; George Kevin Bolden and family; and a host of other very special relatives and friends; and one great-grandmother, Cora Edwards.

Leto Dudley Mason

Leto Dudley Mason, 80, of Benton, Al, died Friday, September 16, 2005 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005 at Good Hope Presbyterian Church in Benton with the Rev. John Boles and the Rev. M.R. Bradley officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing. Visitation will follow the service at the Southern Sportsman Hunting Lodge on Highway 80.

Mr. Mason was born September 2, 1925 in Atlanta, Ga. and is preceded in death by his parents, Leoto Logan and Lucille Dudley Mason. He grew up in Galveston, Texas and spent summers in Benton. He graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) with a degree in Industrial Design. After graduating from API, he married Nancy Shanahan on July 16, 1952. He served as a pilot in the Air Force and was a member of the Fighting 61st Squadron. After leaving the Air Force he continued his military career with the Alabama Air National Guard and the Alabama Army National Guard.

He is survived by his children, James Logan (Jim) Mason and wife Tammy of Benton, Nancy Mason Bernard and her husband David of Auburn, and Susan Mason Hand and her husband Jerome of Montgomery; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Kayla, and Logan Mason; Mason and Mallory Bernard; and Meredith, Mathew and Milton Hand.

Active pallbearers will be Pierce Land, Dave Lyon, Perry Woodruff, Mike Wood, Duke Logan, Dan Rhyne, Hoffman Rhyne Jr. and Billy McCurdy. Memorials may be made to Good Hope Presbyterian Church c/o Donnie Cooper, 379 Washington Street, Benton AL, 3678.

James Lynn Dugan

James Lynn Dugan, age 64, of Selma died Wednesday September 14, 2005 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 A.M. Monday September 19, 2005 in the Chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home officiated by Rev Tommy Fancher. Burial will follow in Northview Cemetery, Cedartown, Georgia at 3:00 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time. Family visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Duggan is survived by his children, Dondi Duggan, Mitch Duggan, Rhonda Prather, Leslie Gaddy, and Leigh Egan, grandchildren, Roby Duggan, Brandon McDaniel, Byron Duggan, Allen Duggan, Ashley Duggan, Cody Duggan, Tony Jameson, Devin & Mason Prather, Courtney Jameson, Jody Jameson, Haleigh Egan, great grandchildren, Braden McDaniel, Landon McDaniel and Harley Bell.

Our father will never be forgotten.

He made a lasting impression everywhere he went.

He never met a stranger and was always full of jokes.

He loved watching football and NASCAR, but most of all he loved attending family gatherings.

He will be dearly missed by us all.

Dorothy M. Caldwell

Dorothy M. Caldwell, 54, a resident of Lowndesboro, AL, died Thursday, September 8, 2005.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Lamont Raven officiating.

Burial will follow in Hayneville Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.
