Panthers score first win handily, 53-28

After dropping their first two games of the season, coach Christopher Raymond and his Southside Panthers finally tasted the fruits of victory Friday night against Greene County.

The Panthers posted a 53-28 victory over their opponents, marking both their first win of and their first regional win of the season.

Clyde Brown stole the show for the Panthers.

Brown recorded 356 all-purpose yards including multiple punt kickoff and interception return yards.

On the night, he had three interceptions and caught a touchdown pass from quarterback Travis Shine.

Jeffery Anderson had two touchdowns, one from the quarterback slot and another receiving on a pass from Shine. Shine, in turn had a touchdown reception from Anderson.

Bryan Smith and JaMarcus Hardy also caught touchdowns from Shine.

On Friday, the Panthers will make a road trip to face Jemison High School.

The Jemison Panthers are unbeaten at 3-0. Their most recent victory was a 57-28 thrashing of Greensboro.

Kickoff for Friday’s game is set for 7 p.m., and will be played at Jemison.
