Dallas County High School, who was supposed to travel to Livingston Friday night, found out that their game was cancelled on Thursday afternoon.

Hiott and his Hornets were not happy with the decision.

Livingston is still suffering the effects of the Hurricane and as a result hasn’t had school all week. Some places in the city don’t have power or telephone service as a result.

With the cancellation, Dallas County has now found themselves in a tight spot.

Hiott wants his Hornets to play. They will get their opportunity. The Dallas County football team will play three games in the span of roughly 10 days. They play Bibb County on Sept. 16, then turn around and travel to Livingston to play that game on

Sept. 20 and then play Keith High school that Friday night.

Dallas County is one-up on their AISA counterpart.

Wilcox’s game has got to be played because it is both a regional game and it is an In-Class game. Both could have effects on the playoff picture as well as post season seeding.

The AISA has already had to cancel three games before adding South Choctaw and Wilcox Academy to their list.

Faith, Mobile Christian and Cottage Hill will have to have their Friday night games rescheduled.

As a high school football coach, having a Friday night off is a rarity, so both coaches are going to go and see what other football teams are doing.

Wilcox Academy’s next game will be Sept. 9 when they travel to Tuscaloosa Academy. Dallas County will play host to Demopolis that same Friday night.

On Saturday afternoon, Wilcox Central was set to play B.C. Rain out of Mobile. The game had already been moved from Friday, but due to problems in Baldwin County that game was cancelled and will be played later on in the week.
