To Navy Seaman Recruit Candace R. Young, who recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Young completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

Young is a 2004 graduate of East Gadsden High School of Havana, Fla.

Ms. Young is the daughter of Deborah M. Young of Quincy, Fla. and Alvin J. Walter of Selma.

To Patricia Wesley, Keith High School’s JAG

(Jobs for Alabama’s Graduate) specialist, on being awarded the Career Technology Program of the Year Award for 2004-05 academic year. Nancy Beggs presented Wesley with the award at a Career Technology Conference in Birmingham.

Wesley has been recognized for several other awards for Keith High School Chapter academic year 2004-05 including first place in Public Speaking and second in JAG bowl competition.

She is presently working with the new KHS Career Association.

To Jordan Leigh Gibbs, a student at Morgan Academy who was recently selected as a UCA All-Star during AISA Cheer Camp held at Huntington College in Montgomery. Gibbs and her squad won in the Large Squad division
