Terry Dixon Lane

Terry Dixon Lane, 62, passed away Saturday August 27, 2005.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 1, 2005, at 11a.m. at Southern Memorial’s Chapel with Joe Lisenby, Chuck Conner

and Jack Cates officiating.

Burial will follow in Little Sandy Ridge Cemetery in Ft. Deposit, AL.

Visitation will be Wednesday August 31, from 5-7 p.m. also at Southern Memorial.

The family will also receive friends prior to service.

Mr. Lane was a long time state employee and Motor Vehicle Division Director of the Alabama Department of Revenue.

Survivors include his wife Sarah J. Lane, two sons- Jay Preston Lane and James Walter Buyck (Kay) Lane, and sister-in-law- Shelia Mulcahy.

Pallbearers will be Huston Waters, Bob McCain, Johnny Newman, Richard Batchelor, Charles Batchelor, Gerald Stringer, Troy Ritchie, and Russell Stark.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Stevens, Robert Huffaker, Tom Dart, Tony Wilkerson, Sam McQueen, Billy Smith, Tommy Smith and Dr.

William Cumbie.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Birmingham Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 100 Chase Park South Suite 220, Birmingham, AL

Barry Carlyle Church

Barry Carlyle Church, age 53, of Jones, passed away August 28, 2005.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rod Rochester officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

He is survived by his mother, Christine Haggle of Jones, AL; his wife, Mary Church of Jones, AL; two sons, Jamie Church of Jones, AL and John Church of GA; two step-sons, Casey (Angie) Kilgore of Valley Grande, AL and Johnny (Ann) Rushing of Selma, AL; two daughters, Catherine Till of Dothan, AL and Cristi Church of Wetumpka, AL; one step-daughter, Michelle (Tom) Miley of Selma, AL; three brothers, Glen (Ora) Church of Selma, AL, Wendell (Hardy) Church of Jones, AL and Gene (Toni) Church of MN; two sisters, Lolita (Roger) Still of Alex City, AL and Crystal (Junior) Humphries of West Blocton, AL; and 24 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Absher and two grandsons, Colby Miley and Devin Rushing.

Charles William Horton

Charles William Horton, age 79, died Monday, August 29, 2005, at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2005, in the Chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Linda Tarver.

Mr. Horton is survived by his wife, Beatrice Chandler Horton, brother, Charlie F (Mary) Horton of Selma; sister, Nell Horton White of Seattle, Washington; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Addie Wilkerson Horton and Carl Horton, sister, Caroline Buxton, brother, James A Horton.

Mr. Horton was a veteran of World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Wendell Carter, Robert Gray, Donnie Lynn, Mason Harris, Daniel Lassitter, and Lowell Butts.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Rev. Norman Williams, the Rev. James Farrow, Tony Butts, Gene Harris and Charles Grant.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday August 30, 2005.
