decided they’d rather put the whole ball of wax, the whole kit and kaboodle, the whole enchilada one on deciding play.

The Vols went for two as they tried to steal a win at Wilcox Academy Friday night.

The call was an option pitch that went wrong.

Stewart McGraw came up and made the stop and the Wildcats walked away with a 20-19XXXXXX season-opening win.

Monroe got on the board first with a 5-yard run by DAWSON.

The PAT failed but the Vols had a 6-0 lead.

Wilcox took the lead with 1:38 left in the first quarter when Zach Kennedy hit Jack Sims for an 11-yard touchdown on his only pass of the night.

The PAT made it 7-6 Wilcox.

Wilcox scored again just before the half on a Drew Bozeman 10-yard run.

The failed PAT left it 13-6 at the half.

Monroe tied the game when JAYE broke loose on a 76-yard run to pay dirt in the third quarter and Monroe added the kick.

A McGraw 1-yard run and PAT gave Wilcox a 20-13 lead with 8:52 left in the ball game.

Bozeman led Wilcox with 18 carries for 107 yards and a touchdown.

He also completed Wilcox’s only other pass, a 30-yard halfback pass to Will Albritton.

McGraw had 12 carries for 43 yards and Phillip Lyon had 29 yards.

Wilcox’s leading tackler was Tyler Dumas with 15.

Lyon and Hank Mosely had nine tackles each.

Bozeman added eight tackles and a pair of fumble recoveries.

Wilcox faces South Choctaw next week at home.
