State Troopers released the name of a Safford man killed in an accident

on Monday evening.

Lusories Eaton, 42, was killed when the red 2000 Pontiac Grand Am he was a passenger in ran into the back of an 18-wheeler on Highway 80, in between Southside High and the Lowndes County line.

Eaton was among five injured in the accident, which included four other Safford men.

All four were transported to Vaughan Regional Medical Center shortly after the accident occurred.

Of the four, Jerrod Bennet and Leon Lewis were released from the hospital shortly after the accident, troopers said.

Lewis was the driver of the Grand Am.

John Norwood and Theodore Carter were both transported to hospitals in Birmingham.

Troopers were unable to provide information about their current condition as of presstime.

Carl Busby, of South Carolina, was driving the tractor trailer in the incident. He wasn’t injured in the accident, according to the public information officer with state troopers.

Busby was making a local delivery to International Paper at the time of the incident.

Troopers said they weren’t sure as of yesterday what caused the accident.

Troopers said at this time there have been no charges filed.

Troopers said Eaton was wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred.
