Dr. Robert Harold Summerville, educator, passed away Saturday August 20, 2005.

Memorial services are scheduled for Monday August 22, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church where he was an elder and a Sunday school teacher for junior high students. Rev. Dr. Ronald E. Stone will officiate. Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home will direct.

Dr. Summerville was born March 6, 1947 in Brewton, Alabama.

After earning his undergraduate degree in history from the University of West Alabama, he went on to complete both his master’s degree and educational doctorate at the University of Alabama.

His teaching career included college, high school, and junior high school levels.

He was later employed as a Social Studies’ Specialist for the Alabama State Department of Education.

After retiring from public education, he became a partner and consultant at Teacher Technology System.

Dr. Summerville was preceded in death by his father, R. H. Summerville. He is survived by his wife Kathryn Bonds Summerville and one son, Robert Tutwiler Summerville of Selma; his mother, Alice Harold Summerville of Brewton; his sister, Kaye Olsen (Jimmy) of Poplarville, Mississippi; his sister, Neita Blackledge (Mick) of Destin, Florida; his stepfather-in-law and mother-in-law, Pascal A. and Elizabeth Tutwiler of Greensboro; his brothers-in-law, James Bonds (Maricay) of Tuscaloosa, Michael Bonds (Jolean) of Clarksville, Tennessee, Bruce Bonds of Sugar Hill, Georgia, and Paul Bonds (Karen) of Prattville, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Dr. Summerville was held as the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday August 21, 2005.

James “Jim” Harold King

Jim King age 69 of Mobile formerly of Selma passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2005 in a Mobile hospital after a lengthy illness.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am. Tuesday Aug. 23, 2005 at Selma Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Doug Chappell and Rev. Calvin Strickland officiating and Selma Funeral Home Directing. Burial will be at Pineview Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday at Selma Funeral Home..

He is survived by his wife Teresa King of Coden, Al. 2 sons: Mike Jeter of ValleyGrande and Joey (Lynn)Campbell of ValleyGrande. 2 daughters: Kim (Philip)Lewis of ValleyGrande and Raylene(Adam) Morgan of ValleyGrande. 2 sisters: Grace Tiller of Elberton,Ga. And Rose(John)Wick of Atlanta,Ga. Several nieces and nephews. 10 grandchildren Kyle Lewis, Sarah Callin Lewis,

Jessy Jeter, Ashley Morgan, Emily Morgan, Joshua Jeter, Jacob Jeter, Jonathan Campbell, Katie Morgan and Austin Campbell. Active Pallbearers will be: Mike Jeter, Joey Campbell, Adam Morgan, Fred Logue, Doug Smith and Ronnie Turner.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Otto Thompson, Terry Garror, Herman Cowan, and Roosevelt Jones. Mr. King was retired from the Air Force were he reached the rank of Master Sergeant and a successful business owner in the Selma area for number of years.

He was a member of the Gidions international and former deacon in the Baptist church.
