The Selma Community Concert Association is getting ready to bring another year of entertainment to the community beginning this fall.

This week the Concert Association kicked-off its annual membership campaign for the 2005-06 concert series.

Doris Holland, president of the Concert Association, said old favorites are returning to Selma this year, in addition to a new tribute to some of Broadway’s most romantic music.

All of the concerts will take place this year at 7 p.m. at Pickard Auditorium.

The concert series begins on Oct. 11 with pianist Mac Frampton and vocalists Sam Hagan and Kit Prothero.

Frampton, Hagan, and Prothero will also be participating in a &8220;Arts in Education&8221; program on the same day as the concert.

Holland said the Concert Association series received a $2,500 grant from International Paper in order to help host the &8220;Arts in Education&8221; program.

Following the Frampton concert, the next event will be the Contributors’ Party on Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Carl C. Morgan Convention Center.

The next concert on the series will be the Ronnie Kole Trio on Feb. 14.

The Ronnie Kole Trio will be performing a musical tribute to musicians such as George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Nat King Cole, and Duke Ellington.

The final concert of the season will be &8220;Grande Romanza,&8221; featuring the tenor and soprano duet of Stefano and Nina Tanchetti.

Music from &8220;Grande Romanza&8221; will include Rodgers and Hammerstein &8220;Hello, Young Lovers,&8221; &8220;The Merry Widow Waltz,&8221; Brigadoon &8220;Almost Like Being in Love,&8221; and songs from Broadway hits like &8220;Phantom of the Opera&8221; and &8220;Cats.&8221;

Tickets for the concerts are $15 for students, $45 for adults, $85 for families, $100 for donors (two Adult tickets), $150 for patrons (three season tickets) or $230 for benefactor (four season tickets).

Tickets are available from Concert Association volunteers, the Selma-Dallas County Library, and the Chamber of Commerce.
