Thomas Fletcher “Dickey” Dempsey

Thomas Fletcher “Dickey” Dempsey, age 71, of Selma, passed away peacefully at his home after a long battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 3, 2005. 1:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Taylor and Rev. Tommy Fancher officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Interment will be at Ocmulgee Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 2, 2005, 6-8:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Spigner Dempsey of Selma; one son, Thomas Harold Dempsey of Selma; three daughters, Brenda Dempsey of Selma, AL, Audrey Dempsey Webster of Prattville, AL and Ginger Dempsey (Mark) McMillan of Prattville, AL; three sisters, Helen McLean, Ruth Jackson and Robbie Jenkins all of Selma, AL; five grandchildren, Robin Webster and Cory Webster of Prattville, AL, B. J. Webster of U.S. Marine Corps, Beauford, SC, Tiffany Dempsey of Selma, AL and Chase Dempsey of Prattville, AL and three great-grandchildren, Kyle Webster, Cameron Webster and Laila Webster all of Prattville, AL.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leon “Buddy” Dempsey and J. B. Dempsey.

Pallbearers will be Eugene Barnes, Bill Hays, Blane Webster, Gene Hethcox,

Bruce Barnes and Donald Barrett.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wilbur Prigden, Allen Fancher, Donald Dempsey, Richard Dempsey, Ronnie Adams and Tom McCray.

Mr. Dempsey worked at Pepsi Cola for 22 years and he owned and operated D & B Waste Service of Selma.

He was a loving husband and father.

He will be missed by all.

Betty Acoff

Betty Acoff, 50, of Selma, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, in Birmingham.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Walker Mortuary.

Ulylesses Pompey, passed away, Sunday, July 31, 2005, at a hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
