Sadie B. Smith, 73, of Selma, died Friday, July 22, 2005, at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at Morning Star Baptist Church with the Rev. B. T. Booker officiating. Burial will follow in New Sister Spring Church Cemetery with Walker Mortuary directing.

Survivors include two sons, Charles B. Smith and Victor C. Smith; two daughters, Phyllis R. Little and Toya F. Reuben; one brother, Sylvester Hatcher; five sisters, Zelma D. White, Dorothy Tanksley, Maxine Maddrey, Vivian King and Betty Webb; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one son-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and one god-daughter; and one god granddaughter.

Active pallbearers will be nephews.

The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday, beginning at 1 p.m.

Roosevelt Sanders, 74, of Pensacola, Fla., died Monday, July 25, 2005, at a local nursing home.

Clarence James Mauldin Jr.

Clarence James Mauldin Jr., 49, of Chicago, Ill., died Sunday, July 17, 2005, in Chicago, Ill.

Services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 30, 2005, at Aimwell M.B. Church with the Rev. Charles L. Lett, M.D. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Jean Mauldin; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence J. Mauldin Sr.; two sons, Jermy Mauldin and Je’Juan Mauldin of Tuskegee, AL; two daughters, Jalisa Mauldin and Jamila Mauldin; one brother, Reginald Mauldin of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Edith Mauldin (Leroy) Higdon of Warwick, Rhode Island and Alethea Mauldin of Tuskegee, AL.

Lloyd Tabb

Lloyd “Nick” Tabb 54, of Marion Junction, died of injuries sustained during an accident on Thursday, July 21, 2005 at a Selma hospital.

Born May 28, 1951, in Massillon, AL, Lloyd was the son of the late Gus Acoff and Mary Will Tabb. On June 23, 1975, he was united in marriage to Ella Washington of Marion Junction, AL. To this union two children were born Timothy Washington and Carlos Tabb. Lloyd raised and cared for a step daughter Mary Ann Washington from the age of one (1) until present time.

On April 21, 2003, Lloyd was united in marriage to Betty Jean Hudson of Uniontown, AL. There were no children born of this union.

Lloyd was a Hwy. Technician with the AL. Dept. of Transportation and a former employee with the Dallas County Board of Commission for a total of 19 years combined. He enjoyed hunting, farming, and spending time with his family and friends. He brought joy and laughter to all he met. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend and will be dearly missed by all.

Matilda Harris, 90, a resident of Hope Hull, AL, died Friday, July 22, 2005.

Earnest C. McCraken

Mr. Earnest C. McCracken, 79, of Panama City Beach Fla., passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at his home.

He was born in Ralph, Ala. and had lived in Bay County since 1983, moving there from Jonesboro, Ga.

He retired after 33 years as a comptroller with the United States Army and Air Force Recruiting Service.

Mr. McCracken was a member of the Gulf View United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Doris Brzuska McCracken of Panama City Beach; his children: Debbie McCracken Cox and her husband Dan of Alabaster, Ala., Sheryl L. Brzuska of Redlands, Calif., Garry C. Brzuska and his wife

Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

Charles H. Washington, Sr., 70, of Forkland, Alabama, passed Sunday, July 24, 2005, at his home.

Charlie Reese

Charlie Reese, 88, of Selma, died Thursday, July 21, 2005, at a local nursing home.

Rodie Walker, 88, of Marion Jct., AL, died Sunday, July 24, 2005, at home.

Jerry Richard Johnston

Jerry Richard Johnston, 61, of Stuttgart died July 27, 2005, at Hospice Home Care In-Patient Center in Little Rock.

Born in Knoxville,

Tenn., on June 5, 1944, he was a son of the late Earl Lavelle and Madelyn Seeger Johnston. Dick, as he was known, is survived by his children, Meg Johnston of Little Rock, and Mitchell and Melissa Johnston of Little Rock and grandson, Andrew Johnston, as well as his twin sister, Janice Elliott of Greenwood, S.C.; a sister, June Hungarland of Marietta, Ga.; and a brother, Jim Johnston of Memphis, Tenn.

Dick was a 1966 graduate of Southwestern

College at Memphis where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. In 1972 he received his Juris Doctor from the University

of Arkansas at Fayetteville where he served as Editor in Chief of the Arkansas Law Review. Dick began his legal career in Little Rock. In 1975 he quit his law practice to farm in Stuttgart. Subsequently, he returned to law practice which he pursued until his death. At the time of his death, he also worked as a volunteer chaplain at Tucker Prison and was a postulant for the ordination to the priesthood in the Episcopal Church.

Throughout his life, Dick actively was involved in the community. He was a past Treasurer of the City of Stuttgart and past member of the Arkansas State Plant Board. He also formerly served on the board of the Stuttgart Regional

Medical Center. He was active in the Episcopal Church and had served on the Executive Council of the Episcopal Diocese of Arkansas, the Vestry of St. Albans Episcopal Church in Stuttgart, and the Episcopal Cursillo of Arkansas. Dick was heavily involved in the Episcopal Prison Ministry in Arkansas which recently began planning an annual summer camp for the children of prisoners which will be called the Dick Johnston Childrens Camp.

A burial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday,

July 30, 2005, at St. Albans Episcopal Church in Stuttgart and will be followed by burial at Lone

She is survived by children, Roberta (Kenneth) Harris of Valley Grande and George (Sandra) M Corson of Selma, grandchildren, Tonya Holt of Valley Grande, Carrie (Scott) Dean Of Prattville, Nancy Wilkerson of Linden, Kenneth (Frances) Harris, Jr. of Hartselle, brothers, William (Ann) O. Smith of Selma, Terry Malcolm (Evelyn) Smith of Fort Deposit, and a number of nieces and nephews.
