Lloyd Tabb, 54, was killed yesterday when a tractor-trailer hit the truck he was working on and threw him to the ground.

According to the Alabama State Trooper’s office, the Marion Junction resident was working on a traffic light at the intersection of state Highways 41 and 140.

The Department of Transportation worker was in the bucket of a utility truck when an 18-wheeler’s trailer hit the bottom of the bucket, flinging him to the ground at about 9:30 a.m.

He was transported to Vaughan Regional Medical Center, according to Trooper John Reese, public information officer for the Craig Field Trooper Post.

According to Reese, Don Skinner, of Peoria, Ill. was driving the truck when the accident occurred.

The owner of the truck, officials said, was Star Trucking, also of Peoria.

Reese said he did not know if the incident would result in criminal charges against Skinner.

Melissa Hubbard is the investigating officer, he said.

The Times-Journal could not contact the driver or Star Trucking as of presstime.
