The best thing about Selma, Andrew Arrington said, is his wife.

He moved to Selma in September, 1999.

But, true love isn’t the only reason the assistant district attorney is still in town.

In &8216;99, Arrington came into Selma from Montgomery, after clerking for state Supreme Court Justice J. Gorman Houston. He took a job in the Dallas County district attorney’s office and hasn’t looked back since.

Luckily, Selma is just right for him, Arrington said.

Coupled with the nice, friendly people and the wonderful architecture, Arrington said Selma is a good fit.

The Dothan native said Selma’s been more than enough to keep his attention.

As assistant district attorney, Arrington is the program director for the Drug Task Force, which means he’s always in the thick of fighting crime in seven counties.

He said it’s perfect for the son of a state trooper.

While he loves his job, he said it isn’t always fun.

Because he prosecutes drug dealers in seven counties, Arrington said his wife sometimes worries about him. It’s a big enough concern for him that he exercises his right as a district attorney to carry a weapon.

He said that he and his wife have made peace with that fact.
