Exchange Club uses six-run rally to win crown

With both teams split with one loss each, the City Championship in the 7- and 8-year-old age group came down to one game.

The Exchange Club and Moore-Stewart were originally set to meet each other on Wednesday, but rain changed the plans. Thursday’s game was a different story. In Thursday’s meeting, the Exchange Club came out on top with a 12-5 victory, securing the trophy and title of City Champion.

Aderick Moore and DJ Stiles scored first thanks to an inside the park home run.

Exchange tacked on a third run when Timderrious Rubin doubled, scoring Justin Purdie.

After holding Moore-Stewart scoreless in the top half of the second inning, Exchange’s offense rallied in the bottom of the inning to the tune of six runs and a 9-0 lead.

Don Hicks, Radarius Smith, Vincent Ellis, Javarius Dudley, Moore and Stiles all scored in the inning. Exchange tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Moore-Stewart tried their hand at a comeback by scattering five runs over two innings, the fourth and the fifth.

Jackson Henderson was driven in by Tez Atchison in the fourth, thanks to Atchison’s two-run inside the park home run. Three more followed in the fifth with Jalen Furlow’s inside the park home run. Bishop Price and Sabin Mobley also scored.
