Mary Pearl Berry Shaw

Mary Pearl &8220;Mama Neg&8221; Berry Shaw, 79, of Selma, Alabama/Dallas County, died Friday, June 24, 2005, at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, July 2, 2005, at Selma Avenue Church of Christ with Bro. Willie Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include three sons, Howard Shaw of Selma, Willie James Shaw of Browns Mills, N.J. and Wash Lee Berry of Montgomery; five daughters, Mildred Shaw, Mamie L. Johnson, Betty (Nathan) Ellis, Mary B. Shaw and Josephine (Willie) Vaughn all of Selma; two brothers, Joe Adams and Steve Evans both of Birmingham, AL; four sisters, Artelia (Willie-Rob) Hardy of Sardis, Ruby Evans of Memphis, Tenn., Lillie Pearl Walker and Anne Evans of Birmingham; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law; one daughter-in-law; three nephews; two nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers are grandsons, Antonio Berry, Tracey Berry, Wash &8216;Lee’ Berry, Nathan Ellis Jr., Chris Ellis and Arthur Vaughn.

Honorary pallbearers are sons, Wash &8216;Lee’ Berry Sr., Willie James Shaw and Howard W. Shaw.

James Arthur Hunter

James Arthur &8220;Jack&8221; Hunter, 69, of Selma, died Wednesday, June 22, at a Montgomery hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at Sunny Acres Church of Christ with Bro. Tildon Hunter Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel Hunter; four sons, James Hunter, Ricky Hunter, Tildon Hunter and Jeffery Hunter; two daughters, Jacqueline Savage and Venita Wills; two brothers, Joseph Hunter and Calvin Hunter; two sisters, Sally Mae Jackson and Willie Lee Rose Wood; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one son-in-law; three daughters-in-law; six brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law.

Active pallbearers will be sons and grandsons.
