Sudie W. Baldwin

Sudie W. Baldwin, 94, died Monday, June, 20, at a Birmingham hospital.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2005, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the eulogy given by Mr. Harold Bryson and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Burial followed in Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Baldwin is survived by her children, Randolph “Randy’ Baldwin (Vicki) of Selma, Jeanette (Bill) Wall of Huntsville, Beatrice (George) Anderson of Valparaiso, Fl, Evelyn (Harold) Bryson of Foley, AL; sister, Ruby Garner; daughter-in-law, Viva Baldwin; grandchildren are Chuck Baldwin, Charles Anderson, Richard Anderson, Roger Anderson, Greg Bartee, Travis Bartee, Lynette Brantley, Brenda Clemons, Cindy Melton, Tania Baldwin, and Lisa Baldwin.

She has 14 great-grand children, and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Olie Baldwin of 67 years and two sons. Stanley Baldwin and Frederick Baldwin.

Mrs. Baldwin was retired from Bayuk Cigar Factory and volunteered at Vaughan Regional for many years as a pink lady.

Pallbearers were Greg Bartee, Travis Bartee, Chuck Baldwin, Richard Anderson, Charles Anderson, Roger Anderson, James Brantley and Darrell Melton.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2005 at 12:00 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church with the Rev. A. Whiting officiating.

Burial will follow in Unity Baptist Church Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Preston Melton Jr.

Preston Melton Jr., 47, of Selma, died Friday, June 17, 2005, at the home of his father and mother.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at Old Oak Grove in Sprott, AL with Pastor Jessie Brown officiating.

Burial will follow on County Rd. 32, will Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Melton; parents Arthur and Claudette Melton; one son, Dianta Willey; three daughters, Anita Brown, Asha Willey and Nikki Patterson; six brothers, Arthur Lee Melton, Willie A. Melton, Otis Melton, Ronnie Melton, Vernal Melton and Terrance L Melton; nine grandchildren; one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; seven nephews; 16 nieces.

Active pallbearers are Harvey Suttle, Willie Lee Suttle, Bobby Torley, Larry Melton, Joseph Melton and Otis Melton.

Essie Mae Richmond Davis

Essie Mae Richmond Davis, 66, of Miami, Fla., died Thursday, June 16, 2005, at a hospital in Miami, Fla.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at Sandridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Milton Brown officiating.

Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two sons, Marvin Davis Jr. and Melvin Davis; two brothers, Joseph Richmond and Paul Richmond Jr.; one sister, Mary Richmond Strong; 10 grandchildren; two daughters-in-law; one sister-in-law; 20 nephews; and 20 nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Estelle and Paul Richmond, brothers, Peter, Lawrence and Henderson, sisters, Georgia Richmond Shepherd and Lettie Richmond-Cummings.

James Hunter

James Hunter, of Selma, died Thursday, June 23, 2005, at a Montgomery hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Miller Funeral Home.

Mantel Trevon Davis, 52 days old, of Autauga County, died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at a hospital in Prattville.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his parents, Jennifer Harris and Earl Davis; one brother, Marquis DeWayne Harris; one sister, Roslyn LaShaun Talton; and numerous other relatives.

Lillie Blevins, 57, of Mobile, formerly of Dallas County, died Sunday, June 19, at a Mobile hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at First Baptist Church in Orrville, with the Rev. Dwight Woods officiating.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2005, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Coatopa, Alabama, with the Rev. James Carter III officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis, Alabama entrusted with arrangements.

The body will lie in state at the church on Sunday, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
