Federal Land Bank’s quest for the Selma Championship Tournament title led them directly to the No. 1 team in the 13-and 14-year-old age group, Custom Rim and Tire.

The two teams were no strangers and had actually split during the regular season and met once in the playoffs already.

Their first playoff meeting was a vast contrast to their championship game. Wednesday night, Custom posted a 15-2 victory.

Thursday night, Custom withstood a late-inning rally to hang on to a 4-3 victory.

Custom jumped on the board early with a three-run homerun over the outfield fence. Ashley Linden and Kelsey Nelson were driven in by Deanna Steele, pushing Custom out to a 3-0 lead.

The 3-0 tally stood tall through three innings. Custom tacked on an additional run in the fifth inning, moving the score to 4-0.

Federal Land Bank broke the seal on their score in the sixth inning. Andreka Trone, Mercedes King and Keosha Trone came in to score and cut the lead to a lone run.

With the thought of a game two looming, Custom’s defense stood and got the third out to claim the City Tournament Championship.
