Frances Chandler George

Frances Chandler George, 83, of Boardman, Ohio, died Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at her residence.

Survivors include one son, James M. George; three sisters, Naomi Vines of Selma, Jean (Clyde) Greene of Selma and Mildred (Ernest) Headley of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; a very special and devoted friend, Mary Swartz of Boardman, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. George.

Mrs. George was formerly of the Tyler Community where she operated Fran’s Beauty Shop at her residence.

Laura Rachel Baker

Laura Rachel Baker, 74, of Lake Placid, Florida, passed away on Sunday June 19, 2005 at home.

She was born in Coffee County, Alabama on January 26, 1931 to Mancil and Eunice Harrison and moved to Lorida, Florida in the mid 1940’s and farmed. She later settled in Indiantown, Florida where on August 7, 1959. She married Charles Gus Baker. Rachel worked with the Martin County School Board driving a school bus from 1958 to 1989. She had a record of 31 years with no accidents. Rachel was a member of the Indiantown Church of God and served as Church clerk for years. She was also choir director. After the passing of her husband in 1990, Mrs. Baker moved to Lake Placid and became a member of New Life Holiness Church. She is survived by six brothers Paul Harrison of Elba, Alabama, Robey Harrison of Sampson, Alabama, Jessie Harrison of Venus, Florida, James and David Harrison of Lake Placid, Florida and Ralph Harrison of Wauchula, Florida; two sisters, Vesta Mae Rhodes of Wauchula, Florida and Shirley Cauley of Opp, Alabama; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mancil and Eunice Harrison and stepmother, Cressie Harrison; brothers, Alfred and Grover Harrison, sisters Hazel Mather, Cecile Keck, and Maudie Harrison.

Rachel and Charles were never blessed with children.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday June 21, 2005 from 5:00 P.M. til 8:00 P.M. at New Life Holiness Church Lake Placid, Florida.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 22, at New Life Holiness Church. Arrangements Entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home (863) 465-2113.

Arlene ‘Lee’ Morris Dunkin

Arlene “Lee” Morris Dunkin of Selma passed away Saturday June 18, 2005 at the age of 91 in a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 21,2005 at 1:00 P.M. at Pine Flat Baptist Church with Rev. Rod Rochester officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Ms. Dunkin was preceded in death by her husband Thomas F. Dunkin.

She is survived by her children, Comer (Opal) Dunkin, Thomas (Charlotte) Dunkin, Norman (Betty) Dunkin and Mary Dunkin all of Selma. Grandchildren, Lisa (Tim) Williams of Selma, Dennis (Beth) Dunkin of Selma, Michelle (Jeff) Richey of Prattville, Scott (Millie) Dunkin of Atlanta, Jeff (Denise) Dunkin of Plantersville, Ryan (Tracy) Dunkin of Selma and Ashley (Bobby) Horn of Plantersville. She is also survived by fourteen Great Grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her Grandsons, Tim Williams, Dennis Dunkin, Jeff Richey, Scott Dunkin, Jeff Dunkin, Ryan Dunkin and Bobby Horn.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Monday at Selma Funeral Home.

Mary C. Ratliff

Mary Cannon Ratliff, age 69, died Monday June 20, 2005 at a local nursing home.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday June 22, 2005 at Pineview Memory Gardens officiated by Rev. George Jones and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home. Mrs. Ratliff is survived by her children, Lloyd Daniel Ratliff, Jr., Kenneth Lee Ratliff, Peggy R. Small, Mary Elizabeth Ratliff, and Rebecca R. Peterson, 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three sisters and five brothers.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
