Cawthorn Underwood Jr.

Cawthorn Underwood Jr., (Joe Jackson) known as “Flanki” was born April, 1924 to the late Ricy and Cawthorn, Sr., departed this life on Thursday, June 9, 2005, at his home.

Services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, June 18, at Lily Grove Baptist Church, 57 County Road 527, Selma, with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

To his family he was a legend and will always be remembered by his children, Ernestine (Jerry) Murphy, Dorothy Collins, Addie Underwood, Queen Underwood of Selma, Sammie Underwood of Bradenton, FL, Fannie (Dwayne) Henderson of Cleveland, Ohio and Dariel Underwood of Bradenton, FL; two sisters, Ruth O. McCants and Mary J. King both of Mobile, AL; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; and one brother-in-law.

Robert Shaw

Robert Shaw, 65, of Uniontown, AL, died Saturday, June 11, at a nursing home in Demopolis.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at Living Hope Baptist Church in Uniontown, AL, with the Rev. James Murdock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillip White’s Julia L. White Funeral Home, Uniontown, AL.

Curtis Lee Chandler

Curtis Lee Chandler, age 55, of Valley Grande died Tuesday, June 14 at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 on Friday, June 17 in the Chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Paul Atchison.

Burial will follow in Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Cemetery, Pletcher, Alabama.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Catellier Chandler of Valley Grande;

son, Harvey Bryan Pickering; daughter, Christie Pickering Cook; grandchildren, Kara Danielle Pickering, Bryan Kyser Pickering and Warren Chandler Cook; brother, David Carl Chandler of Billingsley; sister, Helen Chandler Reed of Billingsley; aunts and uncles, Chester Chandler of Prattville, Marguerite Burkhalter of Prattville, Clayton Sims of Prattville, Wilford Sims of Marion, Gene Sims of Maplesville and Naomi Davis of Mississippi; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Billy Abbott, Jimmy Abbott, Gentry Smith, Ronnie Quarles, Keith Reed and Harry Burkhalter.

Honorary pallbearers will be Employees of International Paper.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 at Lawrence Funeral Home.
