Two Alberta men and a Selma teen were indicted on kidnapping charges Friday, according to the Dallas County’s district attorney’s office.

Fredrick Murphy, 20, and Jamal Henry Kinnard, 19, both of Alberta will be tried for two counts of kidnapping, along with Freddie DeWayne McCampbell, of Selma.

The three are suspects in the kidnapping of two Selma boys on April 20.

The suspects allegedly forced two children, an 8-year-old and his 5-year-old friend into a vehicle near the Cahaba Park West Trailer Park on Highway 22.

The two youths were taken to an area at Bloch Park and forced to remove their pants, socks and shoes and walk into a pond.

The pair was later deposited, uninjured, back at Cahaba Park West Trailer Park.

During a bond hearing earlier this year, officials said that McCampbell was the “instigator” of the incident.

Police indicated at the time of the arrest that the crime was gang related.

Lt. David Evans, of the Selma Police Department said in an earlier interview that the suspects were trying to retaliate against the 8-year-old’s 15-year-old brother.

District Attorney Michael Jackson said his office was pleased with the indictment and that he would do everything in his power to prosecute the defendants.

He said he hoped it sent a message in the area.

“If you kidnap someone in Dallas County, it’s a one-way ticket to prison,” Jackson said.
