Jessie Mae Elizabeth

Apperson

Jessie Mae Elizabeth Apperson, 97, died Wednesday, June 8 in a local nursing home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 11 in the Chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Brother Walter Johnson officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Helen Reed of Jones; grandchildren, Lesa Reed (Ronnie) Quarles of Jones, Keith (Nancy) Reed of Maplesville, Penny Reed (Gentry) Smith of Prattville; great-grandchildren, Laken and Lydia Quarles, Kaitlan and Landon Reed, and Summer and Reed Smith, and the relatives of the Henry G. Reed family.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Quarles, Gentry Smith, Allen Groves, Bob Ed Reed, David Chandler, and Harold Beggs.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Jones Baptist Church building fund.

Helen Marion Rose

Helen Marion Rose, 90, of Selma, passed away June 7, 2005 at a local nursing home.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 9, 2005, 1:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home with Rev. Rod Rochester and Rev. George K. Jones, Sr. officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Interment will be in New Live Oak Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 8, 2005, 6-8:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.

She is survived by one son, Walter (Buddy) Rose of Selma, AL; three daughters, Betty Johnston of Foley, AL, Lois Smith of Noel, MO, and Ann Glass of Orange Beach, AL; one sister, Grace Hand of Enterprise, MS; fourteen grandchildren, Marvin Johnston, Jr., Debra Shah, Markie Rose, Curtis Rose, Tommy Rose, Tonja Blecha, Cindy Cory, Linda Anderson, Sheila Stockman, Sheri Sanderson, Robbie Rose, Randy Rose, Linda Gibson, and Scott Glass; 24 great grandchildren, Douglas Johnston, Stephanie Richards, Shane Brown, Nathan Brown, Amish Shah, Natalie Drumm,

John Johnston, Jr., Jonelle Straube, Connie Ann Johnston, Diane Johnston, Jennifer Rose, Michael Rose, Tommy Rose Jr., Alex Rose, Brandon Anderson, Tisha Cisco, Clayton Cory, Amanda Addison, Robert Rose, Emily Stockman, Trent Stockman, Brian Sanderson, Megan Stanfield and Whitney Gibson; 14 great great grandchildren, Madelynn Lee “Maddie”, Grace Ann, Gillian Anne, Jake Shane, Destiny, Beth, Betty Jania, Briana, Hanna Marie, Michael Earl, Jr., Madeline, Kathleen, and Paul “Paulie”.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Rose; one son, Roy Rose; 8 sisters, Estelle, Sadie Belle, Gayzelle, Eva Mae, Annie Mae, Bobbie, Marie and Ruby; 2 grandchildren, John Johnston and Andy Blecha and two great grandchildren, Robert Johnston and Carolyn Leanne Rose.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Brown, Scott Glass, Roger Stockman, Donnie Gibson, Robbie Rose and Cliff Sanderson.

Honorary pallbearers are Markie Rose, Curtis Rose, Tommy Rose, Randy Rose, Bill Johnston, Harold Ragland, Ernest Morgan and Ben Morgan.

Her most noteworthy achievement was raising a large family and instilling the importance of God and family. Throughout her life, she was happiest working in her flower garden.

While staying at Warren Manor she was selected

“Mrs. Warren Manor” recognizing her as the most admirable, beautiful resident of that year.

Mary Elizabeth King-Moore

Mary Elizabeth King-Moore, 59, of Selma, died Thursday, June 2.

Services are scheduled for Friday, June 10 at Tabernacle of Praise officiated by Pastor Effell Williams.

Burial will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery with Walker Mortuary directing.

Survivors include one son, Sebastian Patrick McGhee; four daughters, Tunga Wright, Theresa McGhee, Bessie Morgan and Michelle McGhee; two brothers, Phillips King Sr. and William (Bill) King; one sister, Mary Alice William; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchildren; three sons-in-law; one daughter-in-law and numerous nephews and nieces.

Bartley H. Giles

Bartley H. Giles, 85, of Maplesville, died Tuesday, June 7 at Jackson Hospital.

He was born Saturday, March 13, 1920 in Chilton Co., Alabama.

He was the son of the late Charlie Giles and the late Leila Weaver.

He worked as a Farmer for Agriculture.

Survivors include one son, Mr. Bartley A. “Sonny” (Betty) Giles of Maplesville; one daughter, Mrs. Joyce (Cleo) Conn of Selma, AL; one brother, Mr. David Q. Giles of Montgomery; one sister, Mrs. Thelma Stroud of Maplesville; two grandsons, Mr. Jeff (Brigetta) Giles of Plantersville, Mr. Brian Giles of Maplesville; four great-grandchildren, Brandon & Troy Giles, Katlyn & Allison Giles.

Friends will be received 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, Clanton.

Services will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church, Thursday, June 9 at 11:00

a.m. with Rev. Doug Powell and Rev. Jason Vinson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Baptist Cemetery, Maplesville.
