Regions, Amsouth foreclose on victories

Roderick Bean struck out 12, walked two, and gave up only one run on one hit to take the 11-1 win on the mound for Region’s Bank in the 11- and 12-year old age group on May 24.

In the top of the first inning, Bush Hog’s Hunter Veach reached on an error and scored. In the bottom half of the inning, Derrick Pratt reached on an error, and Rodney Ellis walked and both came around to score to give Region’s Bank the 2-1 lead.

Terrance Flennory singled and scored on a hit by Chris Hunter in the bottom of the second inning. Pratt and Ellis both singled and scored to give Region’s Bank a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning. In the bottom of the fourth, Tavarious Murry walked, and Flennory singled. Both scored on a single by Eric Blevins. Pratt walked and scored on a single by Jeffrey Mack, who also came around to score making the final, 11-1 in favor of Region’s Bank.

Johnson P&B 6, Carter Drug 3

Johnson Paint and Body used four hits to beat Carter Drugs 6-3 on May 24.

Darion Alexander had two hits while Charles Shoulin and Greg Page had one hit each.

Pierre Newberry was the winning pitcher. For Carter Drugs, Zach Gandy and Charlie Argo had two hits each followed by Doug Molett with one hit.

Molett took the loss on the mound.

13-and 14-year old

Amsouth 12, Healthmark 5

Winston Bearden had two hits, including a double, and two RBI to lead Amsouth to a 12-5 win over Healthmark on May 23. Daniel Blackmon also had two hits in the win.

Justin Freine was the winning pitcher. For Healthmark, Justin Foman was the losing pitcher. Lamarious Prince had three hits, including a double.

Devon Steward had two hits and two RBI in the losing effort.
