Johnnie Snow

Johnnie Snow, 85, of Birmingham, died May 18, 2005, at a Birmingham hospital.

Services are scheduled for May 23, 2005, at 1p.m. at the Friendship Baptist Church with Walker Mortuary directing.

Charles Edward Mullen

Charles Edward Mullen, 79, of Demopolis, died May 17, 2005, at his home.

Services will be held Monday, May 23, at 1 p.m. at the Morning Start Baptist Church, Demopolis. The Rev. James Dunn will officiate. Bishop Earnest Palmer will be the eulogist.

Internment will follow in the Mullen Family Cemetery, Gallion. The remains will repose at the church on Monday, beginning at noon. Masonic Hour will be held Sunday night, beginning at 6 p.m. Public viewing will be held Sunday evening, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home Chapel. Larkin and Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis are entrusted with arrangements.

James A. Harrison

Services for James Arthur Harrison Sr., who died Sunday, May 1 in a local hospital, were held at noon Saturday, May 7, in Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Joseph Coleman officiated. Interment was in Fairlawn Memory Garden, with Miller Funeral Service directing.

Mr. Harrison was born Jan. 31, 1937, the son of Willie and Alice Harrison. A farmer and cattleman, he was also a 40-year employee of Gaston’s IGA, retiring in 1994 as its produce manager.

Confessing Christ at an early age at Summer Grove Baptist Church, he later joined Green Street Baptist Church, where he served until his death.

To his marriage with Bessie Gates, who survives him, five children were born and also survive. They are Dianetta Harrison-Williams of Montgomery, James A. (Cynthia) Harrison, Randy (Ivy) Harrison, of Selma; Marjorie (Cle) Studdard and Michael (Chondrelle) Harrison, of Birmingham.

Four brothers survive him: Willie (Maggie) Harrison, Walter Harrison, Kenneth (Lorraine) Harrison, Lloyd (Mary) Harrison, all of Detroit; and four sisters:

Betty (John) Webb of Selma, Mary Mullins of Montgomery, Evelyn Clark and Ruth Miles of Detroit.

Other survivors are his aunt, Vera Jones of Detroit, a sister-in-law Leanna Allen of Bowie, Maryland; seven grandchildren, one-great-grandson and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers were sons and grandsons.
