A.L. Pettway

A.L. Pettway, 51, of Selma died on May 11, 2005 at home. Services are scheduled for Monday, May 16 at 1pm at the Christian Light of Safford officiated by Pastor Alex Tenner. Burial will be directed by Walker Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife Margalene “Betty” Pettway; Parents, Zack Pettway; son, Kendrick Pettway; Daughter, Youlanda (Anthony) Pettway; two brothers, Donald Pettway of Selma, and Jame Pettway of Mobile; three sisters, Jessye (James) Head of Los Angeles, CA, Debra Pettway of Mobile, and Lashelle Pettway of Selma; six grandchildren, one son-in-law, two daughters-in-law, fifteen brothers-in-law, twelve sister in-laws, nieces and nephews and A lifetime friend, Annie Lee Sheaves.

Mary Sims Austin

Mary Sims Austin, age 82, of Selma passed away May 12, 2005.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, May 15, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Guy Anderson officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 14, 2005, 6-8:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.

She is survived by one son, T. Murray (Terri) Austin of Selma, AL; 3 brothers, Clayton Sims of LeRoy, IL, Wilford Sims of Marion, AL, and Gene Sims of Maplesville, AL; one sister, Naomi Davis of Biloxi, MS; 2 grandchildren, Thomas Austin and Amy Austin and special friends, Calvin and Ernestine Elam and Virginia Covey.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Elsie Sims Chandler and brother, W. F. Sims.

She was an active member of Elkdale Baptist Church and the Dallas County Eastern Star.

Donations may be made to the Music Department of Elkdale Baptist Church.

Walter J. Myles

Walter J. Myles, 53, a resident of Letohatchee, died May 6, 2005.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, May 15, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hill Side Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor James Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Moore’s Chapel AME Zion with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Robert Taylor

Robert Taylor a resident of Montgomery died May 11, 2005.

Funeral services and survivors will be announced by Bell Funeral Home.

John E Taylor

John E. Taylor, 91, a resident of Montgomery, AL died May 11, 2005.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 14, 2005 at 11:00 p.m. at the Wright Chapel AME Zion Church with Pastor Eloise Hall officiating.

Burial will follow in Wright Chapel AME Zion with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Nathaniel June, 49, a resident of LaPine, AL died May 6, 2005.

Stephens Heatley

Stephens Heatley, 36, a resident of Tyler, AL died May 6, 2005.

Josiah Toodle

Josiah Toodle, 86, a resident of Marion Junction, AL died May 12, 2005 at a local nursing home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.

Jerome “Jerry” Erdrich Siegel, Jr

Jerome “Jerry” Erdrich Siegel, Jr, age 86, of Selma died Wednesday May 11, 2005 in a local hospital.

Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Old Live Oak Cemetery officiated by Ed Ember and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.

Mr. Siegel is survived by his sister, Mary Bert Gutman and her husband Alvin of Philadephia, PA.

Sharon Harris Gayle

Sharon “Shari” Harris Gayle, age 62, of Selma died Wednesday May 11, 2005 in a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church at 2:00 P.M. Sunday May 15, 2005 officiated by Rev. James K. Polk Van Zandt and Rev. Joe Knight directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gayle is survived by her husband, Tommy G. Gayle, III of Selma, children, John Harris of Springfield, MA, Kimberly (John) Murray of Berrien Springs, IL, Todd (Carrie) Harris of Denmark, ME, Thomas Gill Gayle, IV of Hollywood, CA, Catherine (Ralph) Stevens of Burbank, CA, Mary Margaret Taylor of Huntsville, AL, sister, Tobe (Sam) Witt of Kingsport, TN, brothers, Thomas E. (Charlotte) Alexander, Jr. of Brandon, MS, Paul Scott (Lorraine) Alexander of Selma, Mark Alexander of Brandon, MS, numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers will be family members.

Pallbearers will be Paul Bearden, John Harris, Todd Harris, Thomas Alexander, Scott Alexander, Sam Witt and Mark Alexander.

Honorary Pallbearers will be employees of Reliable Oldsmobile, Cadillac, Pontiac, GMC. The family will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday evening.
