Keith High School wrapped up their spring season Friday night by playing host to the J.F. Shields Panthers. The Bears were able to silence detractors and put the memories of last fall’s one-win season to rest with a sound 38-8 rampage through the visiting defense.

Leo Vaughn set the tempo for the night with a 30-yard touchdown romp in the first quarter.

Vaughn had his number called in the second quarter, this time answering with a 60-yard touchdown ramble for the score.

The Panthers attempted to rally back with a score and two-point conversion, but LaDarrius Jones connected with Shedrick Harris on a 25-yard touchdown strike.

Antonio McCall kept the momentum going with a pass to Donovan Lewis from 30 yards out for the score.

McCall powered into the end zone from one-yard away in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Derek James had an incredible catch for us, going up between two defenders and bringing the ball down in the second quarter.

Courtney McMillan had several pancake blocks for us that helped us with our running game and Vaughn had right around 200 yards rushing for us.&uot;

Jatavius Turner and William Pasley combined for four successful two-point conversions bringing the game to its final tally of 38-8.

Crum attributes his team’s success in the spring to there workouts over the winter.

Along with having a strong weight and conditioning program, the Bears have made it their personal goal this fall to make the playoffs and completely erase the memories of last year’s debacle of a season.

In order for them to get into the playoffs, they’ve got to stand toe-to-toe with some pretty tough competition both in and out of their region. Keith will face a region that consists of Billingsley, Hale County, Pickens County, Gordo, R.C. Hatch, Vincent and Calera. In their non-regional schedule, they will face Dallas County, Southside-Selma and A.L. Johnson from Thomaston.
