Kathleen Tanton Holley

Kathleen Tanton Holley, age 88, passed away Monday, May 09, 2005 at a local hospital.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at 11:15 at New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. George K. Jones, Sr. and Rev. Doug Chappelle officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Holley is survived by two sons, Elam (Sandra) Holley, Jr. and Ralph (Pat) Holley, a daughter, Martha (Pete) Roberts all of Selma; two sisters, Irene Barnard of New Orleans, LA and Lillian Hagan of Owensboro, KY and eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her long time caregiver, JoAnn Craig.

Pallbearers will be Drew Brock, Charles Duncan, Chris Horton, Tommy Kilpatrick, Ed Leicht, and her grandchildren Alden Holley, Brandon Holley and Parrish Holley.

Honorary pallbearer will be her grandson, Will Holley, currently serving with the military in Iraq.

Mrs. Holley was preceded in death by her husband, Elam and daughter, Barbara.

She was a member of Valley Grande Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Jessie Mae McDowell Lewis

Jessie Mae McDowell Lewis, 86, of Orrville, died Sunday, May 9, 2005, at a Selma hospital.

Services will be held at 12 noon Thursday, May 12, 2005, at Antioch Baptist Church, Orrville, with the Rev. John L. Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two sons, Johnnie Lee Lewis and Charles Lewis; six daughters, Lucille Philan, Mary A. Jiles, Rose Mary Jiles, Katie L. Clifton, Laura Lewis and Brenda L. Collins; three sisters, Mae Emma Lee, Henry Mae Turner and Johnnie Bell Little; 38 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; four sons-in-law; three daughters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Eugene Walker

Eugene Walker, 67, of Selma, died Saturday, May 7, 2005.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2005, at the Chapel of Lewis Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Edgar Holmes of Grandbay. AL officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Rosa Walker; two daughters, Sarah Walker Davis and Centa Walker of Selma; grandson, Fabian Walker; granddaughters, Tiffanie and Brittany Walker; brothers-in-law, Charles Alexander of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Edgar Pete Hickbottom; sisters-in-law, Mary Anderson of Birmingham, Vera Alexander of Atlanta, Ga., and Willie Mae Alexander Sturdivant; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and those blessed to have also called him father.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben Walker and Corine Miller Walker, and brother, Joseph Walker.

Active pallbearers will be family and friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.

Family visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Creola Gardner

Creola Gardner, 84, of Browns, AL, died on Thursday, May 5, 2005, at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2005, at True Vine M. B. Church with the Rev. Larry Blake officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two sons, Curtis (Essie) Gardner of Valley View, Ohio and Ulysses (Orene) Gardner of Orrville, A; seven daughters, Carrie (John) Martin of Beloit, Annette Jones of Browns, Mattie (Walter) Thrash of Moss Pointe, Miss., Emma Green of Cleveland, Ohio, Gladys (Troy) Ash, Catherine (Solomon) Black of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Cherry (Donnie) Montgomery of Belleville, Mich.; 34 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and a host of nephews.

Active pallbearers are sons-in-law.

Jerome E. Siegel, Jr.

Jerome E. Siegel, Jr., of Selma, died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at a local hospital following a length illness.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2005, at Old Live Oak Cemetery.
