The Morgan Lady Senators earned a berth into the state tournament after finishing second in the region behind Hooper Academy.

The berrth, however was short-lived as the Lady Sens were seeded No. 7 and matched up with the Bessemer Lady Rebels in the first round of the tournament.

Bessemer used a five-run second inning en route to a 10-0 victory in

the first game and then Faith Academy rallied a six-run second inning to eliminate the Lady Senators from the Alabama Independent School Association state championship softball tournament.

The loss also marked the end of a career. Morgan coach Rick Blevins is officially tossing his cleats and retiring following the losses.

The Lady Sens only had a three runners on base, Lindsey Vice reached in the second on a walk but never made it past first base. Cursey Oaks reached in the third inning and advanced second thanks to a walk ok Claire Wilkinson. That was the only time that Morgan had runners in scoring position in the opening round of action.

The threat, however, was ended when Elizabeth Watters grounded out to third and Anne Larkin Oaks was part of a double play.

The Lady Rebs, however got their offense rolling early in the game. After Robinson flew out to Anne Larkin Oaks at first,

the offense teed off on the Lady Senators pitcher, Laura Whitney Bennett for back-to-back-to-back singles, followed by back-to-back-to-back errors.
