Mrs. Minnie Nelson Squire, 92, passed at home on Monday, May 2, 2005 after a lengthy illness.

Services are scheduled for Saturday May 7, 2005, 3:00 P.M. at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Selma, AL.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 6, 2005 at Lewis Brothers Funeral Service.

Minnie Lee Nelson was born in Pine Apple, AL on November 4, 1912.

She served her community also as a vocation for boarding physically challenged men as they came to Selma to learn in trade at the upholstery school. She and her husband Robert later opened their home further as a foster home for those in need. Sister and Deacon Squire received a certificate of appreciation for their commitment to the community from the Governor.

She leaves to cherish her memory four children Maggie Shaw, Yvonne (AL) Hatcher, James L. Davis and Robert (Mary) Squire, Jr. Fifteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grand children, thirty-one great-great-grandchildren; two nephews, Governor McWilliams and Johnny McWilliams; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Daisy Godwin Chance

Daisy Godwin Chance, 87, of Selma passed away May 3, 2005 at her home.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 7, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Terry Gunnells officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be prior to the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.

Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens.

She is survived by her husband, Geoffrey G. Chance of Selma; two sons, Billy F. (Malene) Chance of Griffin, GA and Steve D. (Barbara) Chance of Selma; three daughters, Jean C. (Nathan) Richburg of Selma, Betty C. (Fred) Strickland of Hayneville, AL and Janice C. (Gabe) Landrum of Richmond, VA; one brother, Roscoe H. Godwin of Pelham, AL; four sisters, Lois G. Travis of Belpre, OH, Billie G. Griffin of Saraland, AL, Ina G. Crowder of Montgomery, AL and Katherine G. (M.A.) Pearson of Selma, AL; nine grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Timothy L. Richburg, Eric S. Richburg, Michael Strickland, Robby

Bennett, Christopher Cuomo and Mitt Pearson.

Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Casey Church of Christ.

Mrs. Chance was a member of the Casey Church of Christ and taught Sunday School for a number of years.

James Arthur Harrison, Sr.

James Arthur Harrison, Sr., 68, of Selma, Alabama, died Sunday, May 1, 2005, at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, May 7, 2005, at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Harrison was a member of Green Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Bessie L. Harrison; three sons, James (Cynthia) Harrison and Randy (Ivy) Harrison all of Selma and Michael (Chondrelle) Harrison of Birmingham; two daughters, Dianetta Harrison-Williams of Montgomery and Marjorie (Cle) Studdard of Birmingham; four brothers, Willie Harrison, Walter Harrison, Kenneth Harrison and Lloyd Harrison all of Detroit, Michigan; four sisters, Betty Webb of Selma, Mary Mullins of Montgomery, Evelyn Clark and Ruth Miles both of Detroit, Michigan; seven grand children; one great-grandchild; one son-in-law; three daughters-in-law one brother-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Alice Harrison.

Mr. Harrison was employed for 40 years at Gaston’s IGA as produce manager, from which he retired.

Clifton Huckleberry, 51, of Centreville, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at a Tuscaloosa hospital.

Services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2005, at Unionship Baptist Church in Lawley, with the Rev. O.C. Dobynes officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery with Lee & Rollins Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Harrison was employed for 40 years at Gaston’s IGA as produce manager, from which he retired.

Willie J. Bandy, 81, of Selma, Alabama, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at a Birmingham hospital.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2005, at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Melvin Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one daughter, Mildred Kyles of Detroit, Michigan; and one grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eva and Mac Bandy.

Minister Susie A. Jackson

Minister Susie A. Jackson, 52, of Gallion, Alabama, passed Monday, May 2, 2005, at her home.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2005, at John the Baptist Church in Gallion, with the Rev. Gerome Burrell officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis directing.

The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday, beginning at 12 noon.

Public viewing will be from 2-6 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home.

Mattie Small, 82, of Minter, Alabama, died Sunday, May 1, 2005, at her son’s home.

Survivors include three sons; five daughters; one brother; 20 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his mother, Fannie Shannon, father, Eddie Campbell; three sons, Derrick Nicoles, Aundra Aaron Jr. and DeAundra Steele; two daughters, Aieasha Dukes and Aniya Aaron; grandmother, Vera M. Aaron; six brothers, Darryl Gloss, Quincy Jones, Cora Ford, Keshan Giles, Nicholas White and Jonathan Rayford; three sisters, Neketha Gunn (John), Tehite (Theodore) Stallworth and Aundreal Aaron; two brother-in-law; seven nephews; six nieces; 18 aunts; 10 uncles; and a host of other relatives.

He was preceded by one son, Adreeme.
