After dropping a crucial game to the Generals of Abbeville Christian on Monday, the Trojans of Meadowview Christian were looking to take out their frustrations at the plate against their next opponent.

What they found was a walk-a-thon courtesy of Taylor Road Academy.

The Tiger pitching staff issued free passes to Trojan batters on 18 different occasions. Not to be outdone by their opponents, MCS sent 14 Tiger-batters on strolls down the first baseline to combine for 32 walks in a single game.

The final score was 23-12 in a game that lasted over three hours, but was only four and a half innings in duration.

Meadowview was able to bang out 11 hits in the marathon.

Ryan Stephens finished the game with three hits and five RBI’s.

Dustin Lee finished with a pair of hits and four runs scored, Tyler Wendell singled twice and scored three runs.

Landon MeHan singled twice.

Blake Smith and Chris Sewell walked a combined seven times and scored a combined six runs and Derek Lassiter singled and scored three runs.

Defensively for the Trojans, Austin Dennis earned the victory on the mound, going two and two-thirds innings.

MCS was down 7-0 after one and a half innings and battled back to tie the game at 7-7. They then pushed to a 14-7 lead. Taylor Road answered back, cutting the lead to two, 14-12. But, MCS blew the game out of reach with a nine-run fourth inning.

The loss to Abbeville on Monday has put Meadowview Christian into a must-win situation this afternoon against Evangel Christian Academy.

If MCS wants to keep their season alive, then they have to win the game. A loss will create a three-way tie between Abbeville, Meadowview and Evangel with each team having a 4-2 record, since Abbeville scored a victory over Evangel on Wednesday afternoon.

In that scenario, the Trojans would get the short end of the stick.

First pitch for this afternoon’s crucial game is set for 3:30 p.m.
