To Residents of Ward 1:

On or about April 22, the city will begin distributing the new garbage carts to residences.

Please note where the city places your cart.

This is the location that you will need to roll your cart to with the lid opening facing the street.

The city is suppose to select locations free of low hanging wires and branches so the cart can be lifted and emptied into the truck.

As you are aware, the trash and garbage in our Ward has not been picked up on the regular days during the past two weeks.

General Services told me this was because we have 3 trucks down and the weather, but that it would all be picked up by the end of the week.

I suspect this also has to do with General Services being overwhelmed by the implementation of the new cart system. If your trash or garbage is not picked up this week, please call me at

872-7327.

Also, those unable to roll their cart to the curbside need to get a doctor’s statement stating the physical inability to roll the cart.

If there is more than one person in the household, the statement must apply to each person.

When you get your statement, please call me and I will be happy to take it to City Hall for you.

This needs to be done by next week.

There are potholes not only in Ward 1, but all over the city of Selma.

I am trying to get these filled in.

Please let me know as new ones appear in the Ward.

Cecil Williamson

Councilman Ward 1
