To the editor,

On April 8, I was involved in a four car accident on Highway 22 in Valley

Grande.

I am writing this letter in thanks to those in Valley Grande Fire and Rescue for their quick andhelpful response.

Mr Carter and his volunteers came to the scene, assessed the situation, and assisted in every way they could.

It was raining, a nasty day weather wise, they stood their ground for two hours until the accident scene was cleared and everything was safe.

These people are not paid

employees. They are volunteers. Seeing them wet, cold, yet caring, truly deserves a thanks from everyone who has needed or will need their services.

Thank you Valley Grande Fire and Rescue.

To the editor:

Though I am a protestant by upbringing, I believe in one holy and catholic (universal) church of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I mourn the passing of Pope John Pope II,

a great man who will be missed.

On the day of his death, I wrote the following and would like to share it with you.

I recommend to you for reading the Pope’s book, “Crossing the Threshold of Hope.”

Recently I found out he was a poet, too, having published several volumes which you can order online.

With so much unrest and upheaval in our time, both internationally and locally, it behooves all of us to bear in mind the words of Jesus and the first words John Paul II uttered as Pope, “Be Not Afraid”.

Here’s my tribute to a great man of God, bearer of love, peace, hope, and mercy toward all…carrier of the Good News, The Gospel”

A Blessed Life and a Blessing

Going Gallantly Godward

John Paul trods

The threshold of Life

Eternal.

Knowing

Whence he goes and

What he leaves behind.

Trusting.

Not afraid.

Never doubting Father God

Awaits his coming home,

Rises to welcome him:

Faithful servant son,

Honored one.

Glorious in life and death,

Honoring Father God,

Having known Him

in his destiny fulfilled.
