McIntyre proves too much for West Alabama

A five-RBI day from Elyse McIntyre proved to be more than enough for the Meadowview Lady Trojans Saturday afternoon as they downed visiting West Alabama Prep, 13-2.

The Lady Trojans trotted out four different pitchers in five innings and cleared the bench early after building up a double-digit lead in the second inning.

“It was good to get a lot of them in to be able to play because it’s getting close to the end of the year,” Meadowview coach Rick Raines said. “We’ve got to have everybody healthy and on top of their game.”

McIntyre picked up the win on the mound as she pitched the first two innings before giving way to her cousin Haley McIntyre.

Kasey Burton followed an inning later before regular starter Micah Lolley pitched the final inning in a non-save situation.

“It was good to get a lot of them in,” Raines said. “We’re still not hitting the ball like we like, but it gets us one step closer.”

E. McIntyre led the hitting charge with a trio of singles, three runs scored and five RBIs.

After scoring a single run in the first, Meadowview batted around and built up an 11-0 lead after two innings.

H. McIntyre had a single and a run scored. Ashton Smith scored twice, Carol Ann McIntyre had a single and two runs scored and Burton drew three walks, had a single and scored once.

Brandy Moore walked twice and scored once, as did Lolley. Amber Osbourne added an RBI single.

Megan Miller also scored twice for Meadowview.
