Janett Carolyn Reese Davis

Janett Carolyn Reese Davis, 51, a resident of Dallas County, died Saturday, April 2, 2005 at a local hospital.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, April 9, 2005, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Olive #2 Baptist Church in Sardis, AL with the Rev. D. Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Mt Olive No. 2 Cemetery, Sardis, with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Mr. Charles Davis Sr.; mother, Willie Queen Reese; one son, Charles “Chuck” Davis Jr. of Selma; one daughter, Sophonna “Fonda” Reese of Selma; two stepdaughters, Chiquita Rogers & Arnetta Cook Sajna (Eric) both of Selma; three brothers, Anthony Dorsey, Ronald Peoples (Winona) of Selma and John Reese (Mildred) of Huntsville, AL; five sisters, Dian Carson (Vince) of Montgomery, AL, Stephanie Daffin (Roosevelt) of Huntsville, AL, Jennifer Reese of Selma, AL, Constance Reese of Madison, MS, & Kathy Brown of Los Angeles, California; five grandchildren, Jeremy Reese, Ryan Micah Reese, Kamesha Green, Kierra Cook, & Alisha Sajna all of Selma; one brother-in-law, Rev. Lewis Davis (Carolyn) of Montgomery, AL; one sister-in-law, Gertrude Davis Wall of Selma; special niece, Carla Wall of Selma; very special friend, Mrs. Barbara Hasberry (Bill) of Selma; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was proceeded in death by her father Mr. John Reese, a daughter, Cynthia Kay Reese and a special nephew, Ryan Matthew Daffin.

Active pallbearers will be Deacons.

Honorary pallbearers will be brothers and brothers-in-law.

Janett was born on August 28, 1953, in Selma, AL to Mrs. Willie Queen Reese and Mr. John Reese. A native of Selma, she accepted Christ at an early age at Morning Star Baptist Church under Rev. I. C. Acoff and later joined Mt. Olive #2 Baptist Church, under Rev J. Jackson where she served faithfully. She attended school at Parrish High and went on to MANPOWER Nursing School in Hempstead N.Y. and Wallace Community College and became an RN. She worked faithfully for at Selma Medical Center, New Vaughn Memorial Hospital and Dallas County Health Department until 2003, when she retired with 29 years of service.

Olen Carl Jackson, Jr. of Houston TX. formerly of Selma Al. passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2005.

A private memorial service will be held Thursday April 7, 2005 at 2:00P.M. in New Live Oak cemetery with Rev. Bob Ryan officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his mother Sallie Agee Emerson of Selma, Al; brothers, Michael W. (Cheryl) Jackson of Lakeside Ca. and William A. (Louise) Jackson of CoeurD’Aline Id. Step Brothers Mike Emerson, Rusty Emerson of Houston TX. and Jay Emerson of Mariesta Fl. Aunts and uncles, Cora Drake Agee, Sylvia (Thomas) Stone, Miles (Betty) Agee of Selma, Al, Craig (Shelia) Agee of Opelika, Al, George Agee of Tuscaloosa, Al.

and numerous friends in Houston TX.

Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his father and step father Olen Carl Jackson Sr. and James M. Emerson, grandparents Jerome and Ruth Twilley Agee, great grandparents George and Corrie Twilley and half sister Janice Emerson.

Florence Hall Green

Florence Hall Green, 100, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at a hospice in West Alabama.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 8, at the Chapel of Rockco Funeral Home in Centreville, with the Rev. Calvin Crocker and Dr. Mark Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Lawley with Rockco Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two sons, Billy E. Green (Jane) of Randolph and Jesse Bryant Green (Elsie) of Northport; two daughters, Nolvice Bearden of Plantersville and Johnnie McGee (Sam E.) of Northport; one sister-in-law, Peggy Hall of Wilton; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Green and son, James Thomas Green.

Family visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Green was a lifelong member of Friendship Baptist Church in Lawley.
