Dr. Louise Jackson Lyon , a resident of Montgomery since 1946, died March 29, 2005.

Funeral services will be held at Leak-Memory Chapel on Friday, April 1, at 11:00 a.m.

with her former pastor, Rev. Neal Hughes officiating.

Visitation will precede the service from 9:30 -11:00 a.m.

Mrs. Lyon was born Nov. 18, 1907 to Rev. and Mrs. David Randall Jackson, of Birmingham.

She was a graduate of Ensley High School, Birmingham, received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Judson College and did Graduate work at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.

She was awarded the Doctorate of Humane Letters by Judson College.

As the wife of a minister, the late Dr. Henry Louis Lyon, Jr., she worked alongside her husband and was the inspiration and co-ordinator of the Ministry of Christian education in the Highland Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery for the 28 years Dr. Lyon served as Pastor.

She was extremely proud of the 55 young men and women called into Christian ministry under their leadership.

Mrs. Lyon was an educator.

She taught in public schools of Alabama and was a teacher at Montgomery Academy for 14 years where she began the open-classroom method of teaching.

She served as a trustee of Judson College, was President of the Judson College Alumnae Association, and a member of the Executive Board of Alabama Baptist Woman’s Missionary Union.

She was a long-time Sunday school teacher and frequent conference leader and speaker.

Mrs. Lyon is listed in Who’s Who of American Women, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the National Society of Magna Charta Dames and was an active member of

the Mother’s Circle of Montgomery for 42 years.

Mrs. Lyon is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Henry Louis Lyon, III of Montgomery; two grandchildren, Jane Louise Lyon Armour, and husband, Dale, of Jackson, MS; and David Louis Lyon and wife, Edith of Birmingham; and three great-grandchildren, Garner Louis Lyon,

Charles Jackson Lyon and Frances Foster Lyon of Birmingham. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Mrs. Frank Lyon, of Boston.

Serving as Pallbearers will be David Lyon, Garner Lyon, Dale Armour, Jerry Hobbs, Fred Flowers, Jr., Dr. James Sparrow,

Melford Espey, Chad McDonald.

Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons and wives of McGehee Road Baptist Church

and

those

called into the Christian Ministry under Dr. and Mrs. Lyon’s ministry.

The family suggests

memorial contributions be made to The Caring Center of First Baptist Church or to McGehee Road Baptist Church.

William D. Hunt

William D. “Bill” Hunt, 68, a resident of Furman, AL, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2005.

Mr. Hunt was retired from the U.S. Air Force.

Graveside services held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2005, at Palmer Cemetery with the Rev. Willie Crawford officiating and Dunklin-Herndon Funeral Home directing, Camden directing.

Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Hunt of Furman; daughter, Lisa H. Ray (Lawrence) of Auburn, AL; son, Randy D. Hunt (Tina) of Brewton, AL; five grandchildren, Taylor Hunt, Ryan Hunt, Gared Ray, Andrew Ray and Ashley Ray; sister, Sharon H. Keen of Tulahoma, Tenn.; brother, Robert L. Hunt of Tacoma, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.

Eleanor Ruth Moseley

Eleanor Ruth Moseley age 92, died March 30, 2005 in Niceville, Florida.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday April 2, 2005, in the Chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.

Mrs. Moseley was born July 6, 1912 in Nanafalia, AL as the 7th child of Joseph and Bertha Anderson. She married Homer H. Moseley on April 4, 1933 and from their 51-year union they were blessed with six sons, one daughter, 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was a resident of Thomaston, AL for the majority of her life and a member of the Linden Church of Christ.

She resided in Niceville, FL for the past 21 years.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Roger David Allen

Roger David Allen, 41, died Monday, March 28, 2005.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2005 at Elkdale Baptist Church with Rev. Al Finch officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 31, 2005 from 5-7 at the home located at 100 Moore Circle.

Survivors include his mother, Patricia V. Allen of Selma, two brothers, Daniell V. Allen of Selma and Raymond D. Allen of Aurora, CO. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his father, Roger David Allen, Sr.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Elkdale Building Fund or Organ Fund.

Pallbearers will be Ricky McDowell, John Rosenberry, Hilliard Rush, John Pressley, Keith Peace & Kevin Peace.
