Curtis Hatcher Jr.

Curtis Hatcher Jr., died Thursday, March 24, 2005 at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 12 noon Thursday, March 31, at New Shiloh Baptist Church in Sardis, with the Rev. Stevenson E. Tullis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Hatcher retired from the Dallas County School System. He served in the U.S. Army, and was the oldest Deacon of New Shiloh Baptist Church.

Survivors include a loving wife, Avis D. Hatcher; one daughter, Willie Ann Mills of Selma; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; one nephew, Edmore Hatcher of California; one niece, Cherry Abraham of Rex, Ga.; and a host of cousins and friends.

Webb, 57, resident of Montgomery, AL died _March 22, 2005.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at 12:00 noon at Bougahoma Baptist Church with Rev. Ernest Green officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Bell Funeral home directing.

Henrietta J. Sneed

Henrietta J. Sneed, 61, of Newbern, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at a Tuscaloosa hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Newbern Mission Church in Newbern. Burial will follow in the McCrae Cemetery with final arrangements entrusted to Julia L. White Funeral Home of Uniontown.

Nell Huston Kenan

Nell Huston Kenan, age 66, of Selma died Thursday March 24, 2005 in a local hospital. Graveside funeral services will be Tuesday March 29, 2005 at Old Live Oak Cemetery officiated by Rev Lee Tate and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.

She is survived by two sisters, Helen Elizabeth Kenan and Ann Kenan Furey of Delran, NJ; two uncles, John W Lapsley and G. Waring Lapsley both of Selma.

Ruby Laverne Milam

Ruby Laverne Milam, age 81, died Monday March 28, 2005 in a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday March 30, 2005 in Pineview Memory Gardens with Rev Jonathan Lambert officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Milam is survived by her sons, Jerry N Fisher of Muscogee, OK; Tony Michael Fisher of Beloit, WI; daughter, Dot J (James) Cobb of Selma; grandchildren, Rachael L (James) Hicks of Selma and 4 grandsons in Oklahoma and Lyndell Fisher in Wisconsin; sisters, Margaret Goode of Bells, TN, Sally Lee of Alamo, TN, and Blondell (Sturgis) Smithwick of Cape Girardeau, MO.

She was preceded in death by her brother, James Robert Milam.

Elizabeth M. Chance

Elizabeth M. Chance, of Selma passed away March 28, 2005.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Selma Funeral Home.

Bennie H. Rutledge

Bennie H. Rutledge, 90, died Monday, March 28, 2005, at the Willows in Demopolis.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, at Rosemont Cemetery in Uniontown with the Rev. Arthur Noland Jr. officiating and Kidd-Robbins Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one daughter, Olene R. (Ramsey) Trawick of Marion; son, William E. (Suzanne) Rutledge of Iuka, Miss.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gray Rutledge.

Mrs. Rutledge was a former resident of Uniontown, where she was a member of First United Church.
