In an up and down year for the Central Christian Warriors, Thursday’s trip to Open Door was definitely an up.

Bud Shoultz went the distance, striking out 10, walking two and earning a no-hitter as CCA took a 14-0 win. “It’s been a crazy year, either we win big or we lose big,” CCA coach Steven Mackin said. “We hadn’t been hitting the ball well, we’re just now getting our eye back on the ball.”

The Warriors had their eyes on the ball all night as they pounded home 14 runs, all but two earned. Basically, we hit the ball today, we hit the ball well and had runners in scoring position every inning,” Mackin said. “Shoultz pitched really well and that set us on pace to do what we did.”

Eric Curtis led the Warriors with three base knocks. Shoultz and Andrew Harrison each had two hits.

Bryan Sanders added a double. CCA made no errors on the day.

“Today we made the routine play and we hit the ball, that’s all you’ve got to do to win baseball games,” Mackin said. “It’s not rocket science.”
