Dorothy Ann Tate -Johnson

Dorothy Ann Tate -Johnson, 50, of Birmingham, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at a Birmingham hospital.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 14, at Ward Chapel Church. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Johnson (Corjarita) and Scott Galloway (Nakeshia); two daughters, Latreesa Hall (Johnny) and Carlandra Johnson; eight brother, Nathan Edwards, Kenneth (Sue Lee) Edwards, Darryl Edwards (Cheryl), Anthony Edwards (Lacretia), ReNardo Edwards (Natrisha), Leo Suttles, George Suttles and. James Suttles; three sisters, Sandra Underwood (William), Dalphenia Allen (Bruce) and Doris Mitchell; four grandchildren; two sons-in-law; one daughter-in-law; three brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives; and two very special friends, Warren Williams and Cynthia Horton.

Active pallbearers are family and friends.

Essie M. Chaney

Essie M. Chaney, 101, of Minter, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at a local nursing home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home.

Bertha P. King

Bertha P. King, of Dallas County, died March 10,2005.

Services will be held on March 19, at 1 p.m. in the New Center Baptist Church. Lewis Brothers Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Nettie Mae Carter

Nettie Mae Carter, 88, of Marion, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at her home after a lengthy illness.

Services are at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 14, at Sardis Church with the Rev. Thomas Fondren and

the Rev. Gervis Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 13 at Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel.

Survivors include nine sons, John Robert Carter, Lewis Edward Carter, Jessie Deward Carter, Callie Carter Jr. Richard Carter, all of Marion; Hayward Carter of Maplesville, Howard Eugene Carter of Marion, Marvin Carter of Moundville and Dewey Carter of Marion; three daughters, Annie Mae Clements of Tuscaloosa, Dorothy Jane Carter of Marion, and Barbara Jean Barr of Brent; one brother, Louie Yeager of Pondville; three sisters, Gladys Mitchell of Idaho, Geraldene Mitchell of Tuscaloosa, and Jessie Lou Hobson of California; 26 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Active pallbearers will be Charles Carter, Sammy Carter, Kenneth Carter, Ricky Carter, Wesley Carter, Donnie Carter, Brian Barr, James Howard “Red” Carter.

Honorary pallbearers will be William Barr, James Earl Carter, James Allen Carter, Dale Clements, Mike Carter, and Tim Carter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Callie Carter, and one daughter, Effie Duncan.
