Lee Arthur Ford is behind bars today after pleading guilty to two separate robbery charges in Perry County. He is also expected to be in a Dallas County courtroom later this month to face prosecution for additional robbery charges.
Ford pleaded guilty to the April 25, 2002, robbery of the Northend convenience store in Uniontown, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Ford was accused of brandishing a pistol during the robbery and taking cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Court records show police later recovered the stolen items.
Ford also pled guilty to robbing an elderly woman at knifepoint near the Colonial Manor nursing home in Marion on Feb. 19, 2002.
Ford was taken to the Dallas County Jail where he awaits sentencing.
The usual sentence for two first-degree robbery pleas, according the District Attorney’s Office, is 20 years to life.
“This conviction continues my policy of violent criminal being taken off the streets with very stiff penalties,” according to District Attorney Michael Jackson.
Ford is also expected to appear in a Dallas County Courtroom on March 18 after being arrested for two additional robberies in this area.
Ford has been charged in connection to the Oct. 23, 2004, robbery of Nelson’s Country Store in Dallas County.
According to court records, Ford is accused of entering the store with a weapon and demanding money.
Records also indicate that Ford was found in possession of the stolen cash and gun when he was later arrested for the crime.
Ford has also been charged in connection to the Aug. 22, 2002, robbery of the Bargain Town store.
In addition to Ford, Richard Moore also pleaded guilty last week in Perry County for the June 11, 2004, robbery of a Marion woman.
Court records indicate Moore was accused of robbing the woman at gunpoint as she was leaving choir practice at the Marion Methodist Church.
Moore was sentenced to 20 years after pleading guilty to first-degree robbery.
