Eliza Brown
Eliza Brown, 94, of Autaugaville, died Saturday, February 19, 2005, at her home.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 26, at Mallard Chapel Church with Pastor Albert Curry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include one son, Calop Brown Jr.; one sister, Ovetta Caver; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law.
Active pallbearers are grandsons.
Troy Eugene Moore
Troy Eugene Moore, age 74, of Selma, passed away at his residence, Wednesday, February 23, 2005.
Graveside Services will be Saturday, February 26, 2005, at 12:00 p.m. in Pineview Memory Gardens with Rev. Kenny Hatcher officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be Friday, February 25, 2005, from 6-8:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.
He is survived by two sons, Matthew Moore (Lynn Threadgill) and Scott (Dawn) Moore of Selma, AL; three brothers, Charles (Deian) Moore of Montgomery, AL, Ludie (Patsy) Moore and Robert Moore of Selma, AL; two sisters, Virginia (Lester) Lawson and Louise (Harley) Hopkins of Selma, AL; two sister-in-laws, Sarah Ann Moore of Mobile, AL and Lynn Carter; and five step grandchildren, Kyle Threadgill, Kayla Threadgill, Mallory Green, Andrew Green and Magan Green.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Ray Moore, and Billy Moore of Selma and Wayne Moore of Mobile, AL.
Pallbearers will be Billy Moore, Brett Moore, Byron Moore, Brandon Vice, Steve Mott and Obbie Marrow.
Honorary pallbearers will be Milton Wiggins, Gene Wilson and his brothers.
Alvis Lovelady Sample
Alvis Lovelady Sample, 86, died Wednesday February 23, 2005, at a local hospital.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 27, 2005, at Plantersville Methodist Church, with Rev. Ed Cumbie and Rev. Earl Watson officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow at Plantersville Methodist Cemetery.
Family visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. Saturday, at Lawrence Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sample is survived by one daughter, Brenda S. (David) Cox of Plantersville; one grandson, Kevin D. (Alicia) Cox of Prattville; one granddaughter, Kimberly C. (Darrin) Payton of Clanton, six great grandchildren, Adrian and Austin Cox, Connor and Katie Payton, Mckenna Meeks and Laken Britton; and one sister, Ruth Lovelady Johnson of Gardendale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Julius A. Sample.
Active pallbearers will be Roy Johnson, Harold Johnson, Bill Lovelady, Larry Lovelady, Glenn Walker, and ‘Kenneth Lovelady.
Honorary pallbearers will be Men of Plantersville Methodist Church.
Leroy Peterson, Sr.
Leroy Peterson, Sr., 86, of Selma, died Feb. 17, 2005, at a local hospital.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, February 26, 2005 at 11:00AM from Greater St. Paul Baptist Church with Rev. J.C. Summers officiating.
Burial will follow in Pineview Memorial Gardens, with J.H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include a loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Josephine J. Peterson; five children, Leroy, Jr. (Los Angeles), Susie (Selma), Ben (Los Angeles), Christopher (Los Angeles), and James (Los Angeles); a brother, Elijah Singley (Chicago); two brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and a host of other very close relatives and friends.
“Jack” as he was affectionately called was born on January 24, 1919 to the late Ruby Lee Peterson and the late Dan Singley in Greensboro, Alabama.
He confessed Christ at an early age and later joined the Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army having served his country during WWII.
Luretha Milhouse
Luretha Milhouse, 64, of Brooklyn, N.Y. formerly of Selma, died Monday, February 14, 2005, at a Brooklyn, N.Y. hospital.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 26, at Summer Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. A.L. Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Zion #1 M.P. Church Cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include two brothers, Fred Milhouse and Walter Milhouse of Spring Valley, N.Y.; six sisters, Winnie M. Green, Dorothy M. Brown and Carrie Pressley all of Selma; Luella M. Summers of Suisun, Calif., Alice M. Scott of Atlanta, Ga., and Estelle M. Edwards of Brooklyn, N.Y.; 10 nephews; and 11 nieces.
Shondra Johnson
Shondra Johnson, 43, of Forkiand, died Saturday, February 19, 2005, at a Birmingham hospital.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 26. 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Old Green Oak Baptist Church, ForkIand, Alabama. Rev. Wendell Charleston, pastor. Rev. John Kennard Eulogist. Interment will follow in Old Green Oak Cemetery, Forkiand, Alabama.
No Public Viewing will be held as requested by her.

Eddie Washington, 74, of Linden, Alabama, died Sunday, February 20, 2005, at a Demopolis hospital.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday. February 26, at Friendship Baptist Church, Co. Rd. 44, Linden, Alabama, with the Rev. Roy L.Scrugg officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral directors of Demopolis directing.
The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday, beginning at 12 noon.
