The mother of the child, Latesia Shelton, was also charged in her death.

Both were indicted in late January for the crime by a Grand Jury.

The case started on April 8, 2004, when officials at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital reported Andrina’s death to police.

Andrina, according to reports, died from blunt force trauma to the head, which police say they suspect was caused by abuse.

Lt. David Evans, public relations officer for the Selma Police Department, said the child was in the care of a relative when she stopped breathing.

She was taken to Vaughan Regional Medical Center and transferred to Children’s Hospital.

She died a few days later.

By law, hospital officials are required to reports suspected cases of abuse, which police say the hospital did.

Police began the investigation soon after, and determined the child’s injuries occurred sometime between April 1, and April 5, 2004.

Police said several people came in contact with the child during that time frame, which gave them a pool of suspects, slowing the investigation.

Detective Clinton Peeples led the 10-month long investigation, according to reports.

Officials at the Dallas County Jail say Brown is currently being held on a $50,000.

Shelton, officials said, is out on bond.
