Gilbert Joseph Plante
Gilbert Joseph Plante, of Selma, died Sunday, January 23, 2005.
Services will be held in Dallas, Texas.
Survivors include his children, Lori, Lisa, Michael and Lynn; 10 grandchildren; one brother, Pete Plante and Family; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Plante.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Plante was born on February 14, 1932.
The family extends their sincere thanks to every one for all acts of kindness.
R. C. Johnson
R. C. “Pee Wee” Johnson, 77, of Selma, died on January 25, 2005, at a hospital in Alabaster.
Services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, January 28, at the Chapel of Selma Funeral Home with Rev. Clifford Moore and the Rev. Donald Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery with Selma Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Johnson survivors include his wife of 48 years, Frances Jowers Johnson of Selma; one son, Richmond C. (Ricky) Johnson, Jr.; a devoted daughter-in-law, Shanna Reid Johnson; one granddaughter, Chelsea Lynette Johnson; one grandson, Richmond C. (Tripp) Johnson Ill all of Selma. He is also survived by four brothers, Vernon Johnson of Lisman, William “Skeeter” Johnson of Putman, Robert Johnson of Homewood, John Lee Johnson of Foley; and three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Kearly of Butler, Katherine Grice of Kentwood, La., and Virginia Thompson of Butler; and numerous faithful friends and family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Quincy and Rushie Johnson of Choctaw County, and by one brother, Dan Johnson of Trussville.
Active pallbearers will be Barry Hood, Lee Hess, Sherman Faile, Jimmy Day, Tye Reid, Randy Fiester. Honorary pall earers will be Jerry Davis, William Maze, Carson Jones and Freeman T. (Rusty) Reid,Jr.
Visitation for friends and family will be Friday, January 28, from 12:30 until 2:00 p. m. at Selma Funeral Home.
Henry Lee Walker
Henry Lee Walker, 65, of Atlanta, Ga., died Tuesday, January 25, 2005, at his home.
Services will be held, Thursday, January 27, at 1:00 p. m. at Alpine Baptist Church in Plantersville, with Rev. Walter Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Alpine Cemetery with Selma Funeral Home directing..
Mr. Walker is survived by his son, Tracy Walker al Atlanta, Ga.; his daughter and son-in-law, Sonya and David King of Wellsville, Pa.; sisters, Louise McCullough of Jones and Annie Sue Seales of Stanton; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Captola Walker of Stanton and John Walker of Dothan; brothers Warren G. Walker of Manchester. Tenn., Jack Walker of Selma and Joe Ed Walker of Buckhead, Ga.
Active pallbearers are David King, Joshua King, Nicholas Walker, Shane Walker, Nathan Deeter and Jared Chandler.
Family visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 26, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alpine Baptist Church Building Fund.
Ernest Sansom Jr.
Ernest Sansom Jr., 69, of Clanton, died Monday, January 24, 2005, at a Birmingham hospital.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, at Sardis Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ralph Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Sardis Baptist Cemetery in Maplesville.
Survivors include his wife, Odierene Sansom of Clanton; two sons, Greg Ernest Sansom of Virginia and Donald William Sansom of Prattville; four grandchildren, Heather, Lynsey, Donald William and Amanda Sansom; four sisters, Elsie Autrey of Selma, Grace Nell Pickron of Maplesville; Dot Thomas of Deatsville and Ann Barnett of Selma.
Dr. Earl Moncrief
Dr. Earl Moncrief, 87, of Pleasant Hill, died Monday, January 24, 2005.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Selma Funeral Home.
