Golden Eaton, Sr.
Golden Eaton, Sr. died Friday, January 14, 2005, at a local hospital.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 22, at Helping Hands Bible Church Ministries, 1500 Woodrow Ave., with the Rev. Eddie Wilson officiating, Rev. Ralph Edwards pastor. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include three sons, Golden, Jr., James and Warner all of Selma; eight daughters, Juanita (McKinley) Rascoe of Indianapolis, Ind., Linda Brown of Mobile, Mildred (Jacob) Woodard of Houston, Texas, Gladys (Clarence) Martin, Deloris (John) Jackson, Jackie Coleman, Gracie (Tom) Scott and Calandra all of Selma; seven sisters, Gladys Martin of Selma, Ora Williams of Tuskegee, Lenora (Joe) Bryant of San Francisco, Calif., Octavia (Robert) Greyer of Columbus, Ga., Bernice McEwen and Etta Evans of Detroit, Mich.; Alice E. Feagan of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Dr. Lincoln (Rena) Eaton of Chicago, Ill., and Owenton Eaton of Selma; three sisters-in-law, Malisa Curtis, Ethylene Nettles, and Helen Darden, all of Selma; one brother-in-law, Massey (Carrie) Jones; 17 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 51 years, Louise Jones Eaton, one son, Linsey Eaton, three siblings, James Moton Eaton, Jr., Elmer Ellis Eaton, and Merry Eaton Williams; and one son-in-law, Ranus Williams Sr.
Mr. Eaton was born March 26, 1924 in Dallas County, Alabama to the late James Eaton, Sr. and Virginia Jemison Eaton.
He confessed to Christ later in life and joined the Lillie Grove Baptist Church where he faithfully served until his health failed.
