Not only did Haley McIntyre lead Meadowview Christian to a 52-40 victory at home over Autauga Academy, she scored her 2500th career point in the process. She also brought down 11 rebounds, shot an incredible 100 percent from the foul line going 14 for 14, and she racked up 38 points for the night.

Meadowview started tentatively turning the ball over twice until Haley sank a closely guarded lay-up to settle the Trojans down with their first score. However, it was Elyse McIntyre, with six points and five assists, who controlled the tempo under the Trojans’ basket setting them up to run their plays.

Patient passing usually led to an open shot for Haley under the basket, while flawless defense held the Lady General’s to only five points to Meadowview’s 20 during the first quarter.

Autauga’s Amy Wilson added four points from two steals to finally break double digits for the Generals and bring Autauga within eight points late in the first half.

Scrappy play by the Generals on defense forced turnover after turnover, all capitalized on, to bring Autauga within six by the end of the third quarter.

Amy Wilson, who claimed 22 points of her own for the night, sank a three-pointer to make the score 33-30 but Meadowview’s Joni Lawrence, who ended the night with six points, answered with a long two of her own and gave the Trojans an eight point lead.

The fourth quarter was a battle of the three pointers with the Generals finally finding their range.

With six minutes left the game was within two points at 38-36. Four free shots by Haley McIntyre and a three from the top of the key by Elyse McIntyre put the Trojans out in front 45-36.

With two minutes left in the game and ahead by eight the Trojans opened up the court, bringing everyone outside the three-point line in an effort to run down the clock.

Meadowview settled for only four more points and allowed the Generals only two to give the Trojans a 52-40 win.

Meadowview’s Junior Varsity claimed a win of their own beating Autagua 28-23.

Carol Ann McIntyre was the high scorer for the Trojans with 15 points, Deavan Aultman made 11 and Katherine Kaldor scored two.

For Autauga Academy Generals Shannon Mobley was the lead scorer with 13 points.
