Charlene Gordon
Charlene Gordon, 32, of Selma died Tuesday, December 21, 2004, at her home.
Services will be held at 1p.m. Wednesday, December 29, at Church of Christ in Prayer, officiated by Rev. Elder R. Wells. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Garden Cemetery directed by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.
Survivors include her fianc Michael Hobby; parents, Earnest Gordon and Ella Gordon; one son, Michael C. Hobby Jr.; one daughter, Charillia Michelle Gordon; two brothers Earnest Gordon Jr. and Terry Gordon; two sisters, Tracey Gordon and Alison Gordon, one brother-in-law; six sisters-in-law; and a host of nephews and nieces.
Active pallbearers are family and friends.

John Robert McFarland
John Robert McFarland, 78, of Selma died Monday, December 27, 2004.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 28, at First Baptist Church in Selma, with the Rev. Lee Tate officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, with Selma Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his wife, Sallie Harrelson McFarland; one daughter, Rebecca Anne McFarland of Birmingham; and one brother, Fred S. McFarland of Birmingham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred S. McFarland, Sr. and Mattie Mae Hill McFarland of Birmingham.
Active pallbearers will be Barney Caver, Joe Berry, James Carter, Charles Driver, Russell Travis, Dale Curry, Elton Ralston and Ralph Derryberry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cunningham Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church and Selma Camp of Gideons International.
Family visitation will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, December 28, at First Baptist Church prior to the service.
The family requests any memorials be made to Gideon’s International, P. O. Box 212, Selma, AL 36702.
Mr. McFarland, was born and reared in Birmingham and graduated from Samford University where he was affiliated with Sigma Nu, Alpha Kappa Psi, Pi Gamma Mu, 0 D K and Trident.
He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1943-1946. He was employed by Alabama Gas Corporation for 45 years and retired as the District Manager of the Selma District on October 1, 1991.
Mr. McFarland was a Christian and long time member of First Baptist Church, Selma, where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Director, Church Training Director and many other positions in the church. He served on the Board of the Selma Baptist Association for 10 years and the Shocco Baptist Assembly. He also served on the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions.
He served as President of United Way, President of Selma Kiwanis and served on the board of the Salvation Army, Red Cross and Selma-Dallas Chamber of Commerce.
He was a member of Gideon’s International for over 30 years. During this time he served on the State Cabinet in various positions. He also served in the many positions on the local Gideon Organization Board.
Reiter B. Reaser
Reiter B. Reaser, 67, of Selma, died Monday, December 20, 2004, at a local hospital.
Services will he held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, at Mt. Zion P.B. Church with the Rev. Bryan Starks officiating and Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include one son, Gregory (Andrea) Reaser of Selma; one daughter, Diann Pitts of New York; one brother, Robert J. McCampbell of Selma; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law; and a host of other relatives.
Active pallbearers are Gregory Reaser, Willie J. Reaser, Morris Brown, Willie M. Smith, Donald Sanders and Erick McCampbell.
Timothy Cabil
Timothy “Tim” Cabil, 48, of Gallion, died Sunday, December 19, 2004, at his
home.
Services will be held at1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, at Oak Grove M.B. Church in Gallion, with the Rev. Hezekiah Young officiating. Burial will follow in he churchyard cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.
The body will lie in state at the church on Wednesday, beginning at 12 noon.
Frances King Caine
Frances King Caine, 93, of Selma, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
Graveside funeral services will be held at New Live Oak Cemetery at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 30, with the Rev. Joe Wyatt officiating.

Family visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 30, at Lawrence Funeral Home.
Mrs. Caine was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Drury S. Caine, Jr.; her parents, Alexander Augustus King and Louetta Harrison King; her brother, William Augustus King; and her sister, Louise King Leatherwood.
Survivors include her son, Drury S. Caine III (Virginia), of Tuscaloosa; her granddaughters, Camille Caine Duerr (Douglas), Atlanta, Ga.; Lauren Caine Cooper (Kier), Tampa, Fla.; her great grandson, Case Sullivan Cooper; her three great granddaughters, Kennedy Lauren Cooper, Isabelle Brinson Duerr, and Claire Hanson Duerr; and her cousin, Harriet Harrison Sobera, of Selma.
Active pallbearers will be Dr. Anderson Berry, David Caine, Michael Caine, Pearce Caine, Ronald Hill and Dr. David Hodo. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Hudson Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Jack Reed, Mr. Bertrand Riddle and Mrs. Betty Kelley Blackwell.
Mrs. Caine was born in Selma on Feb. 18, 1911, and lived most of her life in the Summerfield area of Dallas County. After graduation from Selma High School, she attended Florence State Teachers College (currently the University of North Alabama) for three years. She was employed as an elementary school teacher in the Dallas County school system for almost 40 years. Her first and longest assignment was at Summerfield in a one-room schoolhouse where all six elementary grades were taught. She also taught elementary grades at the Marion Junction, Plantersville and Southside schools.
Mrs. Caine was a lifelong member of Summerfield United Methodist Church, where she frequently taught the adult Sunday school class and held many offices. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Summerfield Memorial Association for many years. She loved Summerfield, Selma and Dallas County and participated actively in church and community affairs as long as her health permitted.
