Laura Whitney Bennett scored 18 points Friday night and the Morgan Academy Lady Senators finished their pre-Christmas schedule with a 59-36 victory over host Lakeside Academy.

The victory puts the Lady Senators at 7-1 heading into the holiday break.

After missing the past three games to compete in the Alabama Junior Miss program, Katie Taylor returned to score 11 points and hand out eight assists for the Lady Senators. Candace Ward chipped in nine points and five steals for the victors.

In boys’ action, Reid Tolar scored a team-high 16 points and Jeremy Smith added eight points as Morgan Academy held on for a 41-38 win over Lakeside.

The Senators improved to 6-2 on the season.

Morgan Academy will host Central Christian in boys’ and girls’ action on Dec. 30 beginning at 5 p.m.
