The Dallas County School System announced the All-County Football team this week with players plucked from the three county schools, Dallas County, Keith and Southside.
Southside led the way with five players, one lineman and four backs, while Dallas County placed four players on the 12-man squad.
Keith had three players.
The individual award winners will be announced at a ceremony Dec. 16 at Martin Middle at which the team will be recognized.
For Southside, lineman Latrell Richardson led the way.
Big Champ, as he is called, was a four-year starter for the Panthers and is one of the quickest, strongest and fastest linemen in the county according to coach Chris Raymond.
Joining Richardson is Jeffrey Anderson, a versatile junior who excelled at QB/TE/PK/WR and at DE for the Panthers.
Raymond said he is one of the most dominant football players in the area. He had 14 sacks.
Southside runningback/linebacker Tony Myles Jr. finished with 1,485 yards and 17 touchdowns for the Panthers.
“He is an excellent player,” Raymond said. “He has rushed for over 1,000 yards for the last three years.”
Outside linebacker Michael Carter had more than 100 tackles for the second year in a row.
“He has earned everything that has come to him by working hard,” Raymond said.
Last but not least from Southside is WR/DB Cory Jackson.
Jackson averaged 15 yards a catch and had 1,814 total yards including punt and kick returns.
“Mr. Jackson is one pf the hardest working young men I have ever coached,” Raymond said.
From Dallas County, TE/DE Michael Johnson makes the squad.
Johnson has given a verbal commitment to Georgia Tech and had 14 sacks and 91 tackles for the Hornet.
“Michael is ranked number one in his class, he has a 4.3 GPA,” Dallas County coach Rick Bush said. “He has also demonstrated outstanding work habits and excellence in the classroom and on the field.”
Inside linebacker Desmond Martin finished the season with 102.5 tackles for the Hornets.
“He was always around the ball,” Bush said.
Lineman Kyle Frazier made the team for Dallas County.
Coach Bush had high praise for the two-year starter.
“Kyle is a great example of a football player and a student,” Bush said.
Quarterback Derrick McGhee
earned a spot on the team with nearly 1,600 total yards.
He accounted for 16 touchdowns.
“He is a leader on the field,” Bush said.
For Keith, linemen Jermaine Brown, Josh Aguero and Lawrence “Deonta” Milhouse made the team.
Brown played center and was a four-year starter for coach Harry Crum.
“”He has explosive blocking and snapping skills,” Crum said. “He has been offered a scholarship to play football at Troy University. Middle Tennessee, North Alabama and Auburn have also expressed interest.”
Though he stands just 5-foot-7, linebacker Joshua Aguero finished with 127 total tackles for the Bears this season.
“He is one of the hardest hitting football players that I have ever coached,” Crum said. “He doesn’t care how big a running back is.”
Milhouse played QB/RB/G/E for the Bears.
“When three of our linemen were out due to injury, he volunteered to play guard for two games,” Crum said. “He was concerned about the other quarterback having good protection.
He did a good job.”
