Geneva H. Simmons

Geneva H. Simmons, 84, of Marion, died Monday, November 29, 2004, at a nursing home in Perry County.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 1, at Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Memorial Gardens with Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing.

Roosevelt Owens Sr.

Roosevelt Owens Sr., 82, of Marion Jct., died Sunday, November 28, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, December 2, at Union Grove C.P. Church in Marion Jct., with the Rev. George Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Odotsa Owens; three sons, Joe (Gwendolyn) Owens, Alvin (Jeannetta) Owens and Charles (Brenda) Owens; four daughters, Priscilla Owens Harrell, Dorothy J. Owens, Brenda S. Owens and Kathy (Wayne) Allen; two brothers, Odell (Josephine) Owens and John H. Owens; one sister Henretta Roscoe; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grand children; two sons-in-law; four daughters-in-law; and one sister-in-law.

Mr. Owens was preceded in death by a son, Roosevelt Owens Jr., a daughter, Ella M. Owens Williams and a brother, Roosevelt Thomas.

Active pallbearers are the Masonic Lodge 304.

The body will lie in state at the church on Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon.

Josie Lucas, 88, of White Hall, died Tuesday, November 23, 2004.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, at Mt. Moriah in Tyler. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Walker Mortuary directing.
