With a Ho-Ho-Ho Vaughan Regional Medical is kicking off the Christmas season Thursday evening as they flip the lights on a 25-foot tree and welcome the community for an evening of singing, Santa and hot wassails.

“We’ll have a prayer and a special performance by the Selma High School choir, they are awesome,” hospital spokesperson Zaneta Lowe said. “Kids will be able to go into the lobby and take pictures with Santa.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. in the front of the building.

As part of the festivities, “Love Lights” can be purchased for the tree, in memory or in honor of a loved one.

The $5 cost goes to benefit the Vaughan Auxiliary Scholarship Fund.

“The best thing about it, to me, is that your able to spread the Christmas cheer but to someone else,” Lowe said. “Purchasing that $5 Love Light means a local high school student will be able to go to college. What better way to start off the holiday season?

They’re honoring their loved ones by giving to someone else.”

The tree will feature 1,000 white lights and will be decorated with red bows.

The list of Love Light honorees will also be on display at the hospital.

The night is for the hospital’s employees as well.

“We want our employees to come and have a good time,” Lowe said. “You don’t have many times throughout the year where employees can come and fellowship with community residents.”

Love Lights can be purchased at the front desk, or through a member of the Vaughan Auxiliary.
