A house fire on First Avenue left one woman with minor burns on both her legs, according Battalion Chief Mike Stokes.
Tamika Coleman, of First Avenue, was injured when the house she rented at 2001 First Avenue burned.
Stokes said the owner of the property is still unknown.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 2:42 a.m. on Saturday. The first unit arrived at 2:45 a.m. Stokes said the fire was extinguished at about 2:55 a.m.
The one-story, wood-frame duplex received heavy damage.
The case is still under investigation.
“The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time,” Stokes said.
Local firefighters won’t know the cause until an investigation is conducted by the state fire marshall.
Stokes verified Coleman’s injuries. Vaughan Regional Medical Center did not have Coleman listed as a patient Saturday evening. More information was unavailable as of presstime.
Stokes said it was believed that two other unidentified individuals lived at the home, but weren’t there at the time of the fire.
Further information will be released as the investigation continues.
