Vera Fike Nichols
Vera Fike Nichols, 77, of Selma, died Tuesday, November 9, 2004, at her home.
Services were at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 11, at the Chapel of Selma Funeral Home with the Rev. Sandy Simmons and the Rev. Levert Jones officiating. Burial followed in Ephesus Cemetery in Sprott, with Selma Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include three sons, Jimmy (Darlene) Nichols, Gerald (Linda) Nichols and Martin (Lisa) Nichols all of Selma; two daughters, Carolyn Massey of Selma and Eula Averitt of Gordo; one brother, Davis Williams of Selma; four sisters, Annie (Hughey) Hudson of Perry County, Ola Mae Skelton, Jeanette Duncan and Ann Sowers all of Selma; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Margaret Ann Tait Wilson
Margaret Ann Tait Wilson, of Pensacola, died Saturday, November 6, 2004, at a hospital in Pensacola.
Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 9, at Gulletts Bluff Baptist Church in Camden. Burial followed in Reaves Chapel Cemetery with Oak Lawn Funeral Home of Pensacola directing.
Survivors include two daughters, Melissa Stone and her husband Robert of Pensacola Beach and Martha Leah Wilson of Pensacola; her brother, Porter E. Tait Jr.; sisters, Martha T. Jones, Pauline T, D’Alessio, Laura T. Carr and Doris T. Locklin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Porter B. and Edna Tait; brothers, James Everett, Joel Everett and Richard “Micky” Tait.
Active pallbearers were her nephews, James Tait, Albert Tait, Ted Tait, Tim Tait, Rick Tait, Mike Jones, Chuck Locklin and David McDaniel.
Mrs. Wilson was born May 5, 1937, in Camden, she was a resident of Pensacola for the 25 years. She worked 30 years for the Department of Defense and retired from the Naval Supply Center at NAS Pensacola. She was a lively person who enjoyed ballroom dancing and being with her family and friends. She attended Perdido Bay United Methodist Church and was a life long member of Gulletts Bluff Baptist Church.
Catherine Paige
Catherine Paige, 42, of Uniontown, died Tuesday, November 2, 2004, at a Birmingham hospital.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 13, at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Uniontown, with Pastor Johnny J. Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary P.B. Church Cemetery with White Funeral Home directing.
Ms. Page was the daughter of Mary Paige and Joe Booker (step-father) of Uniontown.
Phillip L. Crowder
Phillip L. Crowder, of Selma, died Tuesday, November 9, 2004, in Montgomery.
Services are at 3 p.m. Friday, November 12, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his sister, Beth Crowder.
Active pallbearers are Mike Lewis, Robert Lewis, Matthew Lovelady, Richie Mitchell, Mark Mott and Michael Troha.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Kent Taylor and Dr. Mike Roebuck.
Arcola Jackson
Arcola Jackson, age 74, died on Tuesday, November 9, 2004, at a nursing home in Selma.
Services are at 1p.m. Sunday, November 14, at Alberta Church of God in Christ in Alberta, with Pastor Joseph Knight officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Christian Memorial Funeral Home of Camden directing.
Survivors include her sister Vera Jackson of Cleveland; and brothers, Matthew Jackson (Ida Mae) of Alberta and Julius Jackson of Cleveland; 10 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Also friends Arie Lee Gooden, Sister Walker and Pastor Weaver.
Miss Jackson was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Fannie Jackson of Arlington, a sister, Mary Jane Garfield, and brothers Willie James Jackson, John Jackson, Flave Jackson, Jessie Jackson and her only child, Henry Lee Jackson.
She was employed for the family of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hull of Selma for 23 years prior to her retirement. She attended Abundant Life Church of God in Selma.
Ralph G. Lee
Ralph G. Lee, 51, of Selma, died Saturday, November 6, 2004, at a Birmingham hospital.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 13, at Selma Avenue Church of Christ with Min. Joseph Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include seven brothers, Isadore Harris, Wesley Lee, Johnny Lee, Billy Lee, Bruce Lee, Charles Lee, Randolph Robinson; five sisters, Patricia L. Goldsby, Beverly L. Raven, Bettye L. Murray, Elnora Robinson and Rosalyn Minter.
Samuel Doss Jr.
Samuel Doss Jr., 56, of Selma, died Monday, November 8, 2004, at his home.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 13, at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church with the Rev. George Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Benton Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his wife, Bettie Doss; five sons, Sam Doss II, Joseph Doss, Bryan Underwood, Neil Posey and Derrick Bell; four daughters, Donna Doss, Tiffany Underwood, Lakedia Bell and Sable Bell; five brothers, Gary Doss, Earnest L. Doss, Timothy Doss, Steve Doss and Ben Wallace; seven sisters, Rosa Cook, Willie M. Cook, Jerry D.

Viola Moorer, 66, of Minter (Braggs), died Saturday, November 6, 2004.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 13, at Snowhill Christian Church with Elder Dale Braxton officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Willling Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.
Willie D. Sewell
Willie D. “Rick” Sewell, 44, of Newbern, died Wednesday, November 3, 2004, at his home.
Services are at 12 noon Saturday, November 13, at Hopewell Baptist Church in Marion with the Rev. C.A. Billingsley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his mother, Carrie Sewell; three brothers, Robert Jackson, Henry Sewell and Roger (Carlisa) Sewell; six sisters, Viola Hinkle, Annie (Lee) Moore, Annie P. Sewell, Rosetta Moore, Dianne Scott and Kathy (Lang) Bolling; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends; 12 aunts; five uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Sewell.

Mary E. Walker, 93, of Hayneville, (White Hall), died Thursday, November 4, 2004.

Antonio Boggan
Antonio Boggan, 21, of Tyler, died Sunday, November 7, 2004, in Selma.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 13, at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with Min. Frank J. Boggan officiating. Burial will follow at New Mt. Lily Church Cemetery in Tyler, with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include parents, Aletha Boggan and James Smith; one daughter, Ky’Terrica Martin; one sister, Tomeka Boggan; one grandmother, Annie Burke; two grandfathers, Charlie Burke and Willie Brown; five uncles; seven great-uncles; four great-aunts; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mary James Hayes
Mary James Hayes, 85, of Selma, died Wednesday, November 10, 2004, at a local nursing home.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home.
Annie Mae Jones
Annie Mae Jones, of Brighton, Mass., died Sunday, October 31, 2004, at her home.
Services were held on Saturday, November 6, at Zion Tempe Holy Church, in Dorchester, Mass., with Bishop Paul L. McKoy Sr. officiating.
Survivors include three sons, Willie B. Jones, Bobby Jones and Allen Paul Jones; three daughters, Gracie B. Jones, Anne Bond and Shirley Jones; two daughters-in-law, Philly Jones and Elisha Jones; one dear sister, Vera Dial Surles, Leonard T. Dial and Nelson Dial Jr.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Jones was born on Sept. 15, 1917 in Wilcox County, to Indiana Dial and Nelson Dial Sr. She confessed Christ at an early age.
She was married to Bacchus Jones in 1933, and 14 children was born to this union, eight preceding her in death.
